How do I access the Expo settings??
Oddly enough, I fly the big fast 90 3D MUCH smoother than anything there, other than the scale ships. Must be that having all 60 birds years ago. Funny too, because when playing around with the hover trainer, I am able to hold a nose in better/longer/smoother than a tail-in. Makes no sense to me.
All of my FFF stuff was recollected with no problems (loops, rolls, stationary tumbles & rolls, sustained inverted, etc.). Just working on some of the new manuevers. Back in my day (mid nineties), our ships were not quite capable of most of these things (we were all still mechanical rate gyros).
Also, where (or how) do I download ACTUAL models for G4?? I downloaded the upgrades and it did not include any of the new models.
I'd like to DL a Rex or even a Raptor. A 50 Vibe would be great!!!

Go Here:

Lots of good models to download. I really like the Trex 450V2 EA (entire Aircraft), gotta have this one before you can use the other Trex's.

Can't help you on the expo, but someone in the Knife Edge Forum might...

They make parts for a reason. Keeps the industry alive and get that adreneline pumping!

There is an edit option in the aircraft menu. Go in there and bump the head speed up to 1950(default is 1800).I do believe the end point and expo settings are in there as well.

well

it's weird, because I saw everything but expo there AND some things were shaded and I couldn't change them. I changed max. pitch settings and without being able to change headspeed, of course it became a total pig. I'll just have to keep poking around. I'm at the office/office now and the G4 is in my home/office, so I'll try it later. It's boring to sit there looking at a screen and I'm done with it after 30-45 min.s, but things are coming back to me very quickly - especially w/ the old "two recovery high" thingy.
I'm sure the G4 has already paid for itself and I just don't know it yet.

hi
you have to save the model you want to work with under a different name , so edit Dominion 90 and save it as Dominion 90-2 , now select and edit Dominion 90-2 and you should see the greyed out areas available and the exponential is under software radio , open the channel number and you should see it , you can select always or set values as to when it is active , and lastly you save the changes to Dominion 90-2 , i believe it is done this way so you don't mess up the standard models , bob

yeah

I did that last night (saved as -2) for another model, and you're right. Glad you reminded me. Gonna dial in some expo and a couple Bud Lights tonight and see how I like it!!
Strange, because the left/right cyclic I liked a little quick, but the fore/aft was TOO touchy, especially the aft inputs. But some of that could just be rust.
Thanks for your help my friend...

hi
i don't like the expo myself and use a touch of dual rate for the models i think are too fast , that's just me though , i've never used expo but i always soften my cyclic with the duals , bob

actually

I always used to use both. Soften the center with expo and have the dual rate for ground/hovering work. Always worked pretty good for me.
I always liked my stuff a little "snappy" though.

in the long run

you're better off though. Probably frustrated you at first, but it's making you a better pilot. When I started, we didn't have computer radios or dual rate/expos or sims til I was in it for 2-3 years. Then it was like WOW!!! Revo mix, programmable pitch and throttle curves!!! HH gyros were JUST coming out, as were glass blades. CF blades were still a couple years out. I'm amazed everyday how far this hobby has come in 12 years.

Yeah, I've

been AROUND it since before I was born. My dad used to take me to the field when I turned 2 (got pic's of me and him in the workshop!!). He got out for a few years, but dove back in when I was around 8 or 9. We moved to the country and happened to be, his old club had just rented the field across the street from our house, so he was back in (the club paid me to drive our riding Snapper over there once a week to mow their flying field - great job for a 9 yr. old). Thats' when I started up (about 1972 or so). We were even on a traveling RC team for a few years traveling the midwest over the summers. Cool being sponsored. We got all kinds of free stuff. Kraft Radios, Sig and Top Flite kits, on and on.
Got out of it when I moved to Florida, got married and had kids, then found it again in '89. Got in TOO heavy for 7-8 years, then found motocross for almost 10 years and decided the bones were getting a little soft for that anymore, so here I am.
Can't wait, but unfortunately my best friend (and best flying/riding bud as well), moved away so I won't have him to fly with this time around. It's a great hobby. Met a lot of great guys and I have more memories than I can count (not as much as the riding days though ).
Good to be back, Just waiting for the cash to pile up ya know.

hi
i was living in washington state ,in the early 80's in the Palouse and working as a comercial glazer , and made the mistake of picking up a model magazine at a grocery store , ended up ordering a kit and learning to fly and got into planes in a big way for about 10 years , i had an abandoned airstrip to fly off of in troutlake wasington , very wide open country , long story short , in 2002 i ended up moving back east , and was casting about for a hobby and walked into a LHS and bought another magazine , you would think i would have learned the first time , so i have been flying helis ever since and just now getting into planes again , of course here on the east coast you have to be AMA and in a club to fly and thats OK , all in all it's a great hobby , and the forums are great , it is really fun to talk to like minded people , and there is so much new stuff happening , it is hard to keep up with it all , bob

yeah

I'll be getting back into planks as well. I love both. But I lean towards helis a little more. I like the builds. Plus the flexibility of being able to fly about anywhere. I was just getting into the big planks (I was building a 40% Extra 300)when I decided I didn't have enough time for planes/helis and racing dirtbikes AND raising two kids and always coaching their soccer and baseball teams. PLUS a full time job AND my own business. I have no idea in hindsight how I did it all. Now I have nothing to do (kids are grown and I'm divorced), feel a little too brittle to still race (still got my bike though ), so RC is the obvious answer. Plus it's the one big thing me and my pops have in common, and though he lives up north, it gives us plenty to chat about a time or two a week.
Like you said, a great hobby. Back then I was making killer money and now with the economy being what it is.....tough to scratch back and put together the cash for all new stuff. I mean, I'm starting with NADA. Right down to field stuff, tools, everything. I'm getting there, it'll take time. My biz looks like it may be picking up, and for the first time in 13 years, I actually sucked it up and took a job. But in a field I always wanted to work in and it ties into my biz as well. Start next week. So at least I'll have a paycheck I can count on and not have to continuously chase clients to pay their bills. I'm shooting for the first of next month for a 450 electric.
A 50 Nitro next, then on to a 90. Planks last. I'm afraid to add it all up!!

hi
i have 450's for the back yard and really like them , the batteries and components are fairly cheap , and they handle very well , it is usually pretty windy where i live but i can fly in the backyard after dinner and a few minutes on the sticks keeps my fingers smart , running the gasser out to the flying field usually means a few hours and i can't do it as often as i would like , but it is very fun , and planes are mostly for relaxing , i have been learning to do 3D hovering with the planes on RF , and it is a lot of fun , bob
