Three to four minimum. I'm a little over that number. With at least three you have a backup and a backup for the backup. And is there anyone in this hobby that never needed a 2nd backup? Plus you aren't putting all the wear and tear on one heli.

I've had more but slowly dropped off it can get a bit frustrating trying to maintenance or fly all of them
I have a Toyota 4 runner and I had 15 helis going to airfield

Now I am down to three

I dont know how to fly just how to not crash !!!!!

Been there done that. Now I have two. A 90 and a 450 size. Can't justify having more than two. Although a nice scaler would be quite welcome

No matter how many i have, I always bring 2 to the field.... So the perfect number is 2. Any more than that just creates extra maintinence issues to overlook and get you into trouble.

If you put 2 in the dirt on the same day,it's time to go home because it ain't your day.

I've had more at once but for me the magic number is now 4:

2 X identical 50's for beating on and so you have a backup
1 X small electric (450-500) for school fields, parks etc.
1 X 90 - just because 90's are incredible to fly

Any more than this and it is very hard to fly and maintain them all, as has been stated.

I have 500 rc helis and have a staff of ten people to service and tune all 500 heli's. I then have my topless secretary call down for me to the "crew" at my private airfield that big Daddy wants to fly,,and fly NOW!!! When I arrive at MY airfield I ask for the "HELI MENU" and the "Heli Of the Day"..... then I fly my favorite,,,usually a Blade Cx with training pants,,,,,,,,

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly better than I can pilot them

My reasoning is actually the exact same as JAGNZ. The only difference is that I have 2 different 50's. I just like variety. I pound on my 450SE when I'm learning something new and then do the maneuver on the 50.
