Century Hawk - Falcon - Raven - Predator > the Cat or a Predator Gasser,, see what one got the money

OK, so take you time reading this so you can follow it,,

well I know this would be a no-brainer for many but we have had this cat for 12 years now and he is really a loving cat so we all love him so much, specially the wife,, well my daughter got up before we did and she let the cat out as she went to school,

my son is a really good kid and it is his last year in school so I told him he could stay home from school so we could go flying, so about an half hour after my daughter went to school I got up and I went to the door and let the cat in and he was all in pain, so I could see his rear hip was all messed up bad,,

so I take the cat to the Vet thinking $65 to put it down & disposal fee,, so I call the wife at work and she says at-least take X-Rays, so I ask the wife how much SHE wants to spend on the cat (I do love the cat but it's still a cat) and so she asks what do you mean, so I tell her $300, $600, $1100 how much,, she tells me she doesn't have that kind of money but I can tell she is all up-set,,, see where I'm going here,,

so about 20 minutes later the Vet tells me there is no broken bones but his hip has been pulled out (dislocated), and if fixed he could recover 100%, and it will cost at least $800 maybe even $1000 to fix it, so the Vet said I need to decide to fix the cat or put him down,, keep in mind I owe the Vet about $200 at this point for X-Rays, so I call the wife again and she said (quote) "I love him so much I will just have to pay the Vet to fix him and work over time,, (me, I just keep thinking about those 3 words, COULD RECOVER 100%),,

keep in mind I have had my money saved for a new gasser and I was just about to order it in the next couple days,,,, LOL see where this story is going LOL

so because I like to make the wife happy I told the wife (and there goes my gasser) I would use my gasser heli money to pay the vet,,

my wife is very good to me and I like to make her happy when I can,, besides that the cat sleeps on my side of the bed,,

OK now back to those 3 words (COULD RECOVER 100%),, well what if, when this cat heals he is only 80% or less, what if he is only 70% ??,, so I have spent xxx amount of my gasser money on a cat I have no idea what % cat I'm getting, when I could have just put him down for $65 and got another 100% cat for free plus shots,,

no Gasser for a whil but I'm happy my wife and kids are happy !!

Jim,

I know (because I've been there) what you are going through. I say, If the wife is happy, I will get my just rewards later. Just have to have patience, my friend. Things seem to work out at the end.

BTW, regardless if the cat is only 80% or 100%, the cat has been a part of your family and will continue to be part of the family. BTW, I am not too fond of cats but still a good companion.

Wow, nice.

Jim, you did a Good Thing, and the Karma Police will pay you back in kind. We lost our 3 year old cat Sunday to sudden and unexpected heart failure. The emergency trip to the vet cost me nearly $500, but I would have gladly spent twice that if they could have saved him.

I know some people just don't understand it, but to us they are like little furry people, and they are part of the family.

I know the feeling. I just put out shy of 5G's to have my dog's disc removed out of his back and the others fused. Some people say crazy... I say he is my boy and I would have put other peoples kids I know down before him. Every day he does something that makes me smile or laugh.

I guess the Wren conversion for the Predator is on hold....

I dont have a cat, but the wife's little dog would have real money spent on it should something happen. (knocking on wood)

And no, your still going to crash everything you own 'cause the heligods don't speak to the animal gods.

If I may share my experience with pets.
I had a dog for 8 years and I got very attached to her when she got sick I took her to the vet and after spending several hundred dollars on meds the vet kept reassuring me that she would survive, these treatments just prolonged her suffering and drained my bank account with in a year she passed away.
I would have paid whatever amount to save her, It cost me over 300$ a month for meds 600$ for the operation

Try not to flame me. ( this is hard enough to share )

The vets have you by the heart strings they know people get attached to their pets and I believe some take advantage of peoples emotions.
What makes me upset the most isn't the wasted money it was the suffering the poor animal went through because I couldn't let go.

Don't get overly attached to them pets only last 10-20 years
depending on whether its a cat or dog or bird thats if they don't get injured or sick.

I have learned that pets are like flowers they don't last forever enjoy them while you can.

Having learned that lesson already I would have told my wife there was nothing the vet could do and had the animal euthanized humanly.
If the vet has any doubt I say don't trust them !
wait a month and get a new cat.

Hope this helps someone.

for what it's worth I think you did the right thing, for your *family*. Most pets get a great life and it sounds like yours has a great life no matter what decisions you make there - BUT this decision was as much about your wife and kids as the family pet. I think they will appreciate what you did here. IMO just don't hold it over them (I don't think you would anyway - from what you show here) and they will always remember you for this. My two house dogs (barking hamsters) may live 15+ years, they are 6-7 year old now. I do wonder at times what I will do when I'm in your shoes. My wife doesn't have the attachment to them that some develop but my daughters are completely 100% attached. It's going to be very tough on them when the dogs pass. I hope they live to be very old before that happens, like kids in college.

The gasser will happen. Happy wife = Happy life

...yep...

As much as I enjoy the helicopters, I can't imagine...

...what I would do if something happened to my buddy. I have only had him a little over a year and a half, and he is about three years old. I have to say I would do anything I thought necessary to either prolong his happy life or minimize his suffering. I have seen family with dogs they couldn't let go, and you could tell the dog was in pain all of the time. It is hard, but sometimes what is best for them seems like it is the worst for you.

I would spend that much and more on my animals.

I am very fortunate that my wife works as a vet tech at an animal hospital and all work is done for free or pennies on the dollar for meds. She does most of it herself and the doc she works for is a super guy and does some work as well. Everyone there loves animals and would also spare no expense. Some people are just that way. We have 3 dogs and 4 cats and they are all like our kids.
