Went to the art institute yesterday and I gotta admit,I'm a little confused.
Alot of guys together and "art" that doesn't make sence.
The first one was a pile of candy that was "priceless".The description said have a piece.
The second was a string of lights?
I don't get it.

Perhaps those pieces of artwork made their way into the museum the same way mine did. Let's just say that security is looking for artwork being removed from the museum, not walking in.

I am a graphic designer and have always been "artsy." I can appreciate all kinds of "art" and really enjoy when people push the limit of creativity and come up with something new. But this is not it. This is not art. This is somebody that thinks they are an artist but isn't. And it makes me so mad to see museums/galleries promoting this stuff.

I know so many people that are so talented trying to get their work noticed and into galleries and museums. And then you have these yahoos who plug in a string of lights into wall and call themselves "original."

Support the true artists that use there hands and minds!

With the right person picking up candy, that first picture could be considered a masterpiece.

The artist suggested people should take a piece of candy to represent his withering state before his death and should be replentished in the evening.Weird....

I thought the Thorne rooms were quite worthy of their place there.

a Manchester artist and collector paid £20 for one of Freddie's works and a gallery in Berlin wanted him to showcase his talents.

Wow, sure are a lot of retards in the world...

I'm going to drink some laxative, stand over a canvas and make art now, if you all don't mind. My high protein diet should make it a very unique masterpiece...

...this piece of art was inspired by Thomas Crapper.

Im an artist. Been one my whole life.

I have a masters in BS.

But really I have been doing art my whole life. I work with hand blown glass now for 12 years. Check da gallery...I make "cool" items too, if your "cool" enough to get it. Get it?

The "art" fools don't consider glass art as "fine art" But they consider crapping on a canvas, FINE art!?!?!

I took classes at Corning Museum of Glass, in Corning Ny. Im REALLY good at what I do now. Practice makes close to perfect with glass. I get to play with a 5000 degree flame, and an 1100 degree kiln. PLUS glass breaks!! So its good for a release once in a while. Love the sound of glass breaking.

ELEPHANTS make fine art? COME ON!!!

Art is expression of life. I guess. Guess some have $hitty lives!!!

I can tell you one thing....Us artist's are not stable people. Im a bit WACKO!!! But in a good way.

My friend Art Arfons and his Artwork, the Green Dragon. Sadly, Art died in December of last year. His son Tim continues to build and drive jet powered funnycars, bar stools and even a jet powered barcalounger.

To me, art is something that imitates life and can't be reproduced without skill and practice. Paint thrown on a canvas or candy on the floor is not art in my opinion. If you want art go out to admire a great mountain range or a sunset, thats real art.

I saw my favorite piece of "art" in a humanities class I took in College. Some "artist" cast his nuts in plaster and then made a mold. We only saw the piece on a slide projector, but damn it was funny when it came up. Half the people laughed, some were offended, and all the muslim students walked out of the class. It still cracks me up.

At it's very core, art is the physical expression of an idea.
Many things are art: paintings, sculpture, architecture, novels, plays, movies etc.
The very core though, is the idea. Good art is the effective expression of the idea.
In the same way that there are fantastic public speakers and novelists, so too, the percieved quality of the graphic arts is in the quality of the expression of the idea.
The idea alone, as in the pile of candy or the Christmas lights, is not enough for most people, including me.
A true artist has the gift of expression. Their is a very important quote regarding art. "The work is nothing without the gift and the gift is nothing without work."

Whenever I take the time to ponder this pic I imagine that if Maurits Cornelis Escher (1898-1972) had been born 50 years later he'd've made a hell of an RC heli pilot. Is this ARTY enough for ya, Bart?
