Radio - Servo - Gyro - Gov - Batt > Fromeco "Peerless" 7.4v 2400MAH faulty batteries

Ive been having some intermittent problems with my fromeco regulator. I noticed on several occasions there was a glitch, where to lights would flicker on and off the regulator. I thought this was just a poor connection and re snapped the battery connectors to make a better circuit, then everything would appear ok. One 1 occasion i was flying my heli, and the bird just started to pirouette out of control and crashed. My friend had the same thing happen to him on the same set up. He told me that there was a faulty batch of fromeco "PEERLESS" batteries, and that i should cut it open and check the wiring. Just wanted to know if anyone else has has this same experience and what other type of battery could be used on the regulator?

Ok I have been in touch with Fromeco, and they are sending me instructions on how to remove the circuit board and re solder the wires. They told me that the board could possibly be the culprit, however I also noticed poor connectors and replaced them with deans. The regulator seems more stable now! Thanks for all your help.

I had 2 2600mAh packs fail on me in flight resulting in crashes. 1 was a cold solder joint on the Deans Plug (soldered by Fromeco) and one was a direct short within the pack. Sucked big time.

Tell me about it!! I just cut of the plastic surround on the battery and there is a small circuit board inside. Does anyone know what it is? What does it do? Can i just get rid of it and re solder the wires leaving just the 2 batteries in parallel ?

I'm not sure about the circuit board you are speaking of but TP put a balancer in some of their smaller packs that we use to fly in our delta wings , so maybe it's a balancer .

Learn to 3D or die trying !!!!

If I remember correctly the circuit board is there so that they can ship it overseas.

It was shipped to the UK - So it sounds to me like it could be just thrown away then? It does look like it could be a balancer here is a picture of it attached.

Mine died in flight also, heli started spinning around like crazy. I spoke with Fromeco a while about this, probably about 2 years now and they said the Peerless is only made because of demands made by the airline company. The battery has to have an internal way to shut it self off in case of a short so it does not burn, thus burning down an aircraft that carries it. I thought this would be good in our RC application but it's not.

They said if it was up to them they would only sell the relion packs. Now, as I recall the peerless packs are gone and they are shipped with an external PC board with the stuff needed to make them legal for air travel. (PLEASE remember I have not talked or bought or seen the website for over a year now so this may have changed too)

Once you get it you simply remove that PC board and use the battery, My guess is it is a relion with the stuff needed to pass the laws of air travel.

I am currently using the relion pack on a raptor 90 with their regulator and another on a 600N with the align regulator. Both so far have worked great.
