When I create a Quick Time video file in Premiere CS3 the end product has a black margin around the size which I'm sure would be better filled with a picture. What settings to "stretch" the video to fill the QT movie window? Or do I need to shrink QT to fit the movie??

Sometimes that will happen to me and usually I just uncheck the "preserve aspect ratio" checkbox and set the right size manually

Hope that helps

Oops, this may or may not apply as I usually encode with QT pro

Thanks Tabb ... how do you encode with QT Pro??

It has been a few years since i worked in premiere(im using avid and FC studio 2) but i believe what you are seeing is caused by your source video being physically smaller then your premiere video settings.

Is it possible that your source video is at say 720x480 res and your premiere video settings for your scene is set to say HD 720p?

I would just double check the res size of your source video and compare it to that of your working scene.

Or when you are doing the export to quicktime it isn't taking your scene settings, so you may need to manually enter the size of your video you are trying to export.

Make since?
