e-Align T-REX 450-500-600 > T-REX 600 Neu1515/2.5D/F/H motor on 6S is a little slow? Now CC HV85 setup?

Can you tach your head speed with a freshest pack? On 6s, the pack condition becomes a big factor but 5000 can handle 25% more current than 8s3850. As far as the pack costs, 6s5000 and 8s3850 will be comparable. 9s3850 that we use is a good compromise between weight and energy. One quick way to calculate (disregard units) available energy is to multiply #cells by capacity.

For example 6s5000 = 30000

Going to 10s3850 (unless going 3300) will have a hefty weight penalty. So, you may get more head speed and power, but some of that additional headspeed will be used just to carry the excess weight of the heli. Our 9s setup is about 8oz(not sure on exact) heavier and you definitely feel the weight at the same head speed. This is due to disc loading (weight per main rotor disc surface area).

You can offset the weight with additional head speed but you burn unnecessary juice for the weight handicap.

Most ESCs will not handle partial throttle current much past the spec current but will go much higher in full throttle.

OK so now I converted to the CC HV85. what setups are people using for this ESC and this motor?

HV85

I use the high governor mode with low start power and high governor gain.

Hi Guys,

Sorry to jump in here but I've been looking to change from 6s to 8s using 2 x 4s1p 3300mah with a neu 1910H-1Y or 1512-2Y. What performance and flight times could I expect from this set up? And whats the real difference between the motors?

What about your timing advance? do you use low advance.?

thanks

For 1500 series I use medium advance. For 1900 series I use low advance – medium makes the motor hotter but will be ok.

The HV85 has dynamic timing so it automatically adjusts itself within the allowed range so it’s not really that critical.

IMO theres no reason to run a governor on the electrics. Especially on the CC85. Too much setup trouble. I run 6s on the 1515 2.5/CC85 and have plenty of power; a lot more than my 600n. This is running a Flight Power 6s 5000 with about 60 cycles.

Weighed them at 142 Gms. I was going to try some TST Vblades next (129 gms).

Alternately I have TT blades, and Rotortechs...

I tried the V Blades tst blades and did not like them. The minute I took the align B blades off and put the tst the climbout cut by about a third almost half it was slow. I had to add about a couple degrees of pitch and it was still slower than before. I let a friend try them on his heli without saying anything and the first thing he said it they were slow. I was ready to buy another set of Align B's when I decided what the Heck I am going to lighly sand textured surface off rebalance and try it if I mess them up then I am buying new blades anyway so I have nothing to lose. I sanded them just enough to where they feel smooth but if you look at it from an angle you can still see the texture you just can feel it anymore and they flew way better the helis climbout is alot faster almost as good as the align B's. I guess the textured surface was too efficient and cutting thru the air instead of pushing it out of the way to give you lift.
I run my castle esc in gov mode high, mid motor start, low timing, current limiting disabled, gov gain 100% and spool up 10. If you are running 100% throttle curve you get about 100rpm more by being in gov mode.

In gov mode at throttle curve 100% I get 2450 headspeed with a 11tooth. In idle up 1 its governed to 2150 headspeed. This motor is a monster.

IMO you should not use governors on electrics. All it is is wasted energy.

In my opinion you do even at 100% everything is cooler more efficient and stronger hey it works for me.
