| Can you tach your head speed with a freshest pack? On 6s, the pack condition becomes a big factor but 5000 can handle 25% more current than 8s3850. As far as the pack costs, 6s5000 and 8s3850 will be comparable. 9s3850 that we use is a good compromise between weight and energy. One quick way to calculate (disregard units) available energy is to multiply #cells by capacity.
For example 6s5000 = 30000
Going to 10s3850 (unless going 3300) will have a hefty weight penalty. So, you may get more head speed and power, but some of that additional headspeed will be used just to carry the excess weight of the heli. Our 9s setup is about 8oz(not sure on exact) heavier and you definitely feel the weight at the same head speed. This is due to disc loading (weight per main rotor disc surface area).
You can offset the weight with additional head speed but you burn unnecessary juice for the weight handicap.
Most ESCs will not handle partial throttle current much past the spec current but will go much higher in full throttle.
