I'm on step 37. I must say everything is fitting together very nicely.
Here's a pic up to step 36.

The head assembly complete.

It looks good. What servos are you going to use?

Thanks. I like the carbon frames. I wish the Caliber5 was like this.
As for servos, my LHS has so many servos to choose from so I'll wait until tomorrow to decide.

I have one too! , but I am waiting for about 30 bearings to replace all the aluminum collars that it uses. They are in the options list. Does any one know where to buy the metal swash plate and metal motor plate?

I'll see how it flies with the collars. I'm surprised it comes stock with collars instead of bearings. I guess I'll be putting the old triflow to good use.

Give Chris at RCHeliworks a call. If he doesn't have them, he can probably get them in short order.

Robinson Racing or HPI 64 pitch pinions from the RC electric car folk work fine.

And they are available in a wide range of tooth values. With an 1/8th inch bore, they generally fit right on your motor shaft without need for a bushing.

Thanks for the info, dave. I don't understand why it would not be included with the kit. Back in my Trex450 days, those kits came with a couple of different pinion options.
A kit should have everything minus the electronics, atleast one would think so.

Test hovering at 7:55 p.m. It's hovering nice. I have the headspeed tamed way down for the first few flites. I like how it feels, it very responsive and crisp. Here's a few pics.

I bought two different pinions from my LHS. Right now I'm running the 27 tooth 64 pitch from Robinson racing. I have a 28 tooth I will try at a later date. My LHS has everything one would ever need for RC

My view on the 450V in ff and fff.

It flies very much the same as my Caliber5. I prefer a bigger nitro machine but was impressed at how well this little 450 e-heli tracks in flite. Feels like its on rails.
Next test is idle-up, if it performs as well as it does in normal mode, this little heli is one hot flyer.

Cuzz, I think the small heli will make you an even better pilot than you already are. The 50 will seem like its in slow motion! Tom

The Caliber450v will help my hovering skills. Hovering around my backyard mostly with this little skeeter.
I lost count after 30 flites. Getting close to 50 flites on the 450V.

I have my new Caliber5 set to the max and changed the pitch link lever position to the outer hole. It makes the 450 look and feel like molasses.
C-5 vid coming soon.
