| Ok, to start, Im no expert, but I do know a thing or 2. This is my 2nd HDX450SE V2. Out of the box it was very docile, great for sport flight, FFF was excellent. Great stability for a 450. However Im trying to get more into 3d now. So how do we liven a HDX450 up? Read on...
First up, dump the stock motor for something better. Either an Align 430XL, or better still like I did, a Scorpion 2221-8 on 13 tooth. Get a good esc to cope as well, take your pick. Mine is the Scorpion Commander 45. At least 20c lipos, much better is 25c. Go with a good brand, you wont be sorry. Try the new Outrage 3s 2200 25 and 30c. Ive tried the 25, heaps of pop and VERY light. 166g without deans. Radix or V blade 315-325mm main blades. Light carbon paddles, mine are 2g each. Align 220mm flybar. K&S tail blades, or carbon 62mm. And the thing that made the most difference? Ditch the stock mixing levers, they are holding this heli back. Either use the Align SE metal ones, or the Sonix Mini Titan ones like I used. After putting these levers on, my cyclic range is 8deg, and my pitch (same as before mod) is +12 -12. No binding. I have only test hovered in the backyard so far (since putting the new levers on), as Im taking this to a funfly next week, and would like to have it there in 1 piece lol. My headspeed is around 3100-3200rpm, and I get an easy 6min flight with FFF, flips and rolls. Just thought Id share what I found, as I still think this is an under rated heli for the $$$. If you do the mixing lever mod, please post here how you like it Cheers
If you bling it, they will come :D |
