We were asked to do a photo shoot for a rock group about to release their first cd, the only catch.... it was from a helipad about 20 stories high ! .... and I hate hights!!, you can see my assistant holding me from the shoulders becouse I was so freaked out.

We still need to be photoshoped out

here's a link to one of their songs, quite cool actually!

Might be using them to reflect light back onto the group, to stop the harsh shadows under the eyes, nose & chin.

Seems to me that ALL heli's beat the air into submission

A normal mirror wouldn't work very well for that. Way too directional and harsh. You need to get real reflectors, or even a board painted white would work better than standard mirrors.

Flying in that environment would freak me out too!

I reckon the mirrors are there to help make the landing spot easier to see from a helicopter., as they will reflect the brighter sky

The "ground" photographer was using the mirrors to get some effects he wanted in his pictures (some weird reflections of the surrounding buildings) when it was my turn to shoot we didn't want to move the mirrors because it was quite windy and we were afraid they might break so we just left them there.

It was very scary, I really hate hights and not being able to see the ground when you are flying makes it worse

Notice I did say MIGHT I agree white board would have been better, but as the man said, the PG wanted to capture some weird angles with the group & buildings.

The most interesting part is the abandoned helipad itself. If U think it's scary to fly a model from, imagine landing a full size on it. It's like a relic from the past, now banned for excessive noise, no longer used because of fuel shortages, or too dangerous.
