So.. what if any parts from the 620 will fit on the Swift 16?? I just picked up a new 16 off tower the other night. I think I got a pretty good deal on it by the time they took the $20 discount off and used what little I had in my tower account I got it for $120.89 shipped.

Everything but the frames can be swapped over with all century machines. I would say that 80% of parts made by century can be adapted to fit there other machines, and few other companys with 10mm shafts, and comparable designs.

Thanks for the info... I'd like to use the longer boom but wonder if I would run into a belt issue?? I've read of a couple doing a boom mod and using a Trex belt I think, wonder if that would work in my case?

Putting a swift 620 belt & boom on the 16 is no problem.
Many people have done this mod with pure success.

Thanks for the info.. do you happen to know if they used the stock belt or the trex belt?? I've seen the mods where they used another boom to make a sleeve to extend the 16 boom. If I use the stock 620 boom I want have to make an extention like I've seen in some of the threads to extend it correct?? The 620 boom will be a direct replacment right??

I actully have the belt and boom on the way for that mod on my 8s swift.
I've heard that you have to use the cnc tail case, but i plan on making any nesasery mods to make the original work.

The stock swift tail case can be made to work with the 620 boom(with a little mod) But having the cnc tail case makes it a straight drop in..no mods needed

Just curious, but why not fly it stock first to see how you like it? No need to stretch the boom unless you plan to run 600mm blades and a bigger power system (and a CNC head...)

For me it's because the tail won't hold as much pitch as the 8s powersystem will pull.

Have you considered using LONGER tail blades?

yes i tryed that on my 6s swift and promply stripped the front pulley and then proceeded to crash.
So i talked to heliworld and they said you can't run 95's on a swift 16 tailbelt or that is precisley whaty will happen.

As a 95mm tail blade is a 60/90 nitro size tail blade, I can well imagine that it would be too much of a load on the Swift 16 belt. As the stock tail blade is only 76mm (if memory serves me correctly) long you may consider som larger 30 sizer or 50 size tail blades.

You can get various, very efficient, C/F Rotor Tech tail blades from 82mm to 85mm to 92mm (narrow chord or wide chord) tail blades that would all load the belt a lot more appropriatley then the big 90 size 95mm ones.

Tail belt

The stock Swift belt is narrow and I had problems with it slipping even with the stock blades. You can buy a wider belt from stock drive products in pretty much any length you desire that will cure the problem. Hope this helps. steve.

Which one?

That's a good question and I don't remember which style it was. I bought the stock length, but they come in various lengths and you just need to measure what you've got and get longer if you want. Measure the distance between the teeth on the belt and the width of the pulleys. Those three dimensions - width, pitch of the teeth, and length pretty much define the belt. I'll look and see if I still have mine laying around the garage and maybe can give you a part number to get you started. steve.
