Main Discussion > Throttle Setup - Question

Wondering which is the better (or correct) way to set up the throttle. One method I read said to set the servo arm slightly prior to 90 degrees - while the throttle arm on the engine is set to idle. I think this method would then cause the servo arm to be past 90 degrees when the arm on the carb makes the carb 50 % open. Another method said to have the servo arm set (at 90 degrees) while the carb is exactly
50 % open. I am not sure if there is a big difference between the two methods or not. Also ....... should the heli be set up to hover at 50 % stick movement, or 70 -75 % stick movement. I think I have read a few different methods here as well. (I will be doing basic aerobatics and scale flying, no 3D). Thanks. Bob

throttle setup

"One method I read said to set the servo arm slightly prior to 90 degrees - while the throttle arm on the engine is set to idle. " WRONG!!!

"Another method said to have the servo arm set (at 90 degrees) while the carb is exactly 50 % open. "
RIGHT!!!
If you hover at 50% stick this will be GREAT for you! Most who 3D hover around 65-75% and adjust their throttle curve at these points.
