I've had some problems using the Cineform codec when rendering for Deshaker so I kept the "HD intermediate" setting and changed the codec to Xvid Mpeg4 Codec in Vegas 8. Deshaker took it OK and is busy doing its work.

Just wondering though what the benefit is (if any) to using Cineform instead of another codec.

Here is some interesting copy.. I saw this somewhere about Vegas 7 And Cineform..

"Vegas 7 has made good performance improvements for M2T 1080i decoding, that doesn't discount the advanatges to using an intermediate. Connect HD includes many pre-processing capture operations, such as pull-down removal, scene detection, deinterlacing, resizing, frame rate manipulation with audio pitch control, and much more. Then there are the multiple generation quality advantages, easy of use with third party tools like After Effects and VirtualDub (nearly everything can use an AVI.) Yes for some modes Vegas 7 as court up in speed, but I wouldn't expect that to remain case with future Connect HD releases likely to get more speed out of Vegas."

Does this mean that Vegas Ver 7 is better than ver 8??? I also read somewhere that Cineform is actually bundled with Vegas 8 (could there could be a conflict with it in in you install HDLink on the same PC.

Vegas 8 pro seems to come with it.
You can render HD avi files with it.
I just installed it, so I dont know much about it. Might want to wait till Trackhead comes back from his bike trip

You save a lot of time rendering if the files needed to convert to AVI files. And it's a Raw format, but you can do that with some of the codec that are on your editing softwares.

Cineform comes into play when doing color correction and other post production tweaks. It allows a faster framerate playback and faster rendering times.
