| Hi,
A friend brought his Rappy 90 SE over for me to fix a binding issue with the bell not moving when installed. I noticed that, in the manual, the bottom of the pinion screws into the bell and the top screws into the pinion gear nut. However, the pinion gear nut on this bird isn't threaded, so should I assume this is a defective nut, or is it supposed to be non-threaded? If so, that seems illogical, since the manual says to put Loctite on both the bottom and top threads. That means the top has to screw into something... but what else, if not the pinion gear nut?
Also, the top of the pinion gear has threads, as well as an additional 1/4" of non-threaded shaft above it, whereas the pinion gear in the photo lacks the non-threaded part. In other words, the bottom of the pinion that screws into the bell has about 1/4" of threaded shaft and that's it, whereas the top has the same, with an additional 1/4" non-threaded shaft above the threads. Is this also normal?
It seems like this bird has a few wrong parts. Please correct me if I'm wrong!
Thanks, Scott |
