Flybarless Rotor Head Systems > First time V-bar user...

So I am a first time V-bar user and I have a few questions. I have downloaded the manual and understand a lot of what is going on but I do have a few questions. Thank you to those who have helped already.

I have a baseline program that I got from MrMel and I have all servos moving in the directions that they should be. I am in Classic mode NOT Extended. The servos all center after movement however, they are slow to return to center. Is this normal?

I am currently using a DX7 and will switch to a 12X as soon as they are available. In normal mode, my pitch curve is a flat 50% so that I can center the swash for equal pos and neg pitch. Is this acceptable or do I need to do something different to find this center point? Do I leave the sensor connected?

Using the settings MrMel provided me, Once I get the pitch range equal up and down, I should be ready to fly?

Any and all help is appreciated!! Thanks in advance!

Checking off "test mode" in the servo screen puts all servos at 1.5 pulse width...i.e. center...including rudder. You'll need to uncheck it before you disconnect the vbar unit from the usb, of course. Yes, leave the sensor connected. Be sure to fire up the radio and heli before *connecting* the usb cable as the current from the usb cable will interfere with the start-up process and swash movement will be strange.

You will also need to teach your heli it's own pirouette optimization in the rudder screen even if you've used MrMel's file.

2 + 2 = 5 for extremely large values of 2.

I am knee deep into the set up and now I am not getting any tail servo response at all. I have a brand new, just gotten today BLS251. Any suggestions?

Ok kids, all adjustments and settings have been made and the maiden will be later this morning. Time for bed now. I will post pics and let you all know how it goes later today. Thanks again to all that helped.

OK... For the tail servo, I am dork and had it plugged into the wrong slot. Got it sorted out now and it works as advertised.

First flights were fricking spectacular!! God I love this thing. Any way, I am very happy with the cyclics so I am not going to mess too much with that. The tail works well but I need to speed up the Piro rate and I have a bounce at the end of a tail movement. It's not too bad and holds very, very well all things considerd.

1. How do I get rid of the bounce?
2. Can I use the Expo and dual rates of my radio like I would normally? Do I have to do something in the V-Bar programing?

I will post some pics of her with the hood off once I get the install cleaned up a little.

Here are some pics of the first two flights.

1. What tailblades are you using?
2. Yep, go ahead and use expo as you like, to lower or raise flipspeed (revs/sec) I use ATV in the radio.

Ok on the radio. I will do that and get my Expos and D/R's set.

I am using 105mm V tails.

Any ideas on the tail bounce?

From the Wiki

"Look at the stop behaviour. If the tail turns back after a stop there is too much I or too less P. Increase/decrease the values in steps of 10. "

Got two more flights in. I made some tweaks and it is a little better but it now stops harder and has a smaller bounce but a bounce none the less. Gonna take the lap top to the field tomorrow and get it dialed in.

Could of course also be too soft tape if your using stuff like the CSM tape.

I am using the Futaba Gyro tape. I one piece on the heli, the the metal plate, the two pieces between the sensor and the metal plate.

aha, that could be too much, I use ONE single futaba tape on my electrics.
If I get interference from a underlying servo, I mount the plate hard against the servo with thin double-sided, and still just one tape ontop.

As you have it now its a good chance it vibrates when you stop hard.

I think you are correct. I have made some adjustments to the "P" and "I" values and was able to get the bounce stopped. However, I did notice that in flips and rolls there is slight tail movement. I did the mounting and it does give a little more than it should. I tweaked a crown gear so I will re-mount the sensor when I go to replace the crown gear. Thanks a ton for all the help. You ARE the man!!
