Electing prez by how he holds his hands during the national anthem now that is pathetic if anything is

I understand your point...however what you fail to recognize is that regardless of how ridiculous you think it is...the fact is that a tradition is a tradition in any country and to not follow the "flock" makes you stick out like a wolf would.

There are those that cry wolf while others just dont see it. Usually those that dont see it end up being eaten...eventually. Happens every four years over here.

What was the reason for the comment if not to point out that his ancestors probably didn't come from Europe like yours?

By doing that you make a point out of something completely irrelevant for his possible abilities to be a good president.

Do you guys make that kind of remarks about the W?

On the other hand, when there are no good arguements those without them always resolve to that solution....

Pete
I'm for tradition and I do agree it unites and bonds people together, however traditions may change over time. Someone makes those changes, doesn't necessarily make them a bad person. If they choose not to follow tradition it's their choice This is just a smear campaign in loss of real arguments in my eyes. In my eyes politicians or companies that promotes their case by throwing dirt about the opponent is the absolutely worst kind. Just shows me they have nothing good themselves to promote, hence they try to drag everyone else down to their own level....a politician that does this but knows where to hold the hand during the national anthem would never get my vote as he would just be an idiot following traditions without really thinking...

Hot on the heels of his explanation for why no longer wears a flag pin, Presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama Was forced to explain why he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.

According to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171, During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart.

"As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides," Obama said. "There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I read most all the political post I come across here on RR. agree with some, and disagree with some. This one I need to voice my 2 cents.

Following tradition or protocal when the National Anthem is played and/or our Flag is displayed, for me is a must. I could give a rip about the policies each of the yahoos running for president are trying to sell as what is needed for this country. Actually each one has some good, some bad, however, there is no shinning star in my book here to choose. "A Plethera of Idiots" shall we say

For me, placing my hand over my heart during the National Anthem, is showing respect for the tens of thousands, who have given their life, to ensure our way of life. To ensure that I, we, have a chioce, and the freedom to choose, what even I choose.

Its a matter of respect in my eyes.

Rant out,

Butch

Um, did anyone notice that none of them are facing the GIANT flag behind them, and all of them are facing different directions, perhaps the National Anthem was not even being played yet.

How many times does this have to be brought up (YAWN). This propaganda is just old, stop beating a dead horse.

Oooo, here's a new idea: Lets talk about real issues. You know things that will actually affect you. (Health Care, War, Economy, Oil, etc.)

(Crickets chirping) Anyone? Anyone?

Ok, lets...

What is Obama proposing? Oh! That's right! He's proposing change...

What kind of change, he hasn't quite figured out yet. The Americans out there who don't support him know what kind of change he is bringing...

...and it won't be the good kind, it'll be the Carter kind.

Change???

Yea, and he wants to "change" our health care system, the best system in the world I might add, and make it like Canada's where you can't even see a doctor or have a simple test done in less than six months, and the cost of which will probably backrupt this country. Oh yes, and he wants to "change" your taxes so you will pay lots more money to the government.

You might want to look at all three candidates stance on health care again. They all say that they want insurance affordable and accessible to everyone, non-discrimination, portable, and offer private insurance if the individuals desire. And that's from their own websites.

And yes people in Canada are probably having to wait. Here in the US the sick and people with preexisting conditions are usually not eligible to get insurance to get care. "Gee kids, would you like to go to the doctor for that pneumonia or eat this month".

Except not all three want to GIVE it to you free of charge. Well, at the taxpayers expense anyways...

Leave healthcare private. The government doesn't need to get it's stupid hands involved!
