Radio - Servo - Gyro - Gov - Batt > Spartan DS760 vibration

I am in the process of setting up the DS760. I have downloaded the new firm ware, configured the gyro for my servo the Futaba 9254, and set the servo length so that the endpoints in the set up(not radio) are 119 and 109.

I was moving the rudder stick when all of a sudden the servo started to chatter, fast. Not like when you enter set up mode, but blistering fast. The tail blades were not moving far but quickly.

Any ideas?

Also, what should the expo be set at on the set up screen. My set up screen said -50 for both rate and AVCS modes? Is that correct? or should those be positive. From what I read it sounded like, negative made it more sensitive, not less?

Help me?

How smooth is your tail linkage? I had a servo chattering once pretty bad because the tail linkage wasn't silken smooth and the servo was unable to find/hold the senter so it was chattering like mad

You set the gyro to wide pulse type right? (9254 is wide pulse)

Servo chatter can be one of 3 reasons

1) glitch
2) faulty rx (port)
3) faulty servo

I know that.

This has nothing to do with the radio. Spartan has gyro expo on its setup screen. The question is which way is it on the spartan "SETUP SCREEN"?

My set up screen shows -50 for both modes, rate and AVCS. Is that correct?

More negative is more agressive control around center(less expo). I'd give it a shot at the factory settings before making any changes once you get the servo issue resolved.

Just something to try out...maybe put in a bit of deadband on the configuration if none of the other suggestions resolve it. Perhaps your servo is overly sensative?

I pulled the servo off of one of my Raptor 50's. It worked fine, then. It was plugged into a JR500t.

I put an inquiry into Spartan, but I have not heard back.

The expo setting of -50 is what came up on the setup screen. I didn't change anything except for the Gyro type.

sounds like the wrong servo type is selected.

try the following-

firstly unplug the servo before you do any of this incase you have it on 720uSec. connect the gyro and hit load defaults in the spartan software. when you have done that then do the following-

1.unplug the servo (assuming you haven't above)

2.enter the initial setup (hold left stick, power gyro on and toggle gain switch on tx)

3.make sure you select the correct servo type (for 9254 it's a single flash which is 333Hz/1520uSec) move the rudder stick to get it to a single flash, when happy toggle the gain switch and reboot the gyro.

4.connect the gyro and redo the setup to get the end points again.

there is zero need to adjust anything in the software at this point so leave it where it is set after loading the defaults.

oh btw, if you have a spektrum rx then rebind it. i was told a couple of days ago of csm gyros doing exactly this and rebinding the rx fixed it. a long shot but something to try if all else fails. some sort of glitch with the spektrum binding process....not got a lot of details on it i'm afraid.

also assuming you are using spektrum make sure your not too close to the rx.

To answer the question, -50 is the default setting in the spartan program for both HH and rate mode. Its fine like that.

About the servo pulse, you can choose from the left side menu the servo you have (9254) and it will adjust accordingly. No need for doing the manual setup if he has the interface cable. Make sure you have the latest firmware too.

tony, i suggested this way for a reason my friend.

please try the way i suggested above and let us know how you fair.

have you tried the servo in the rx directly to make sure it's not servo pots or anything? (9254's have a habbit of breaking, i'm on my 3rd one in 2 years now and i only use them on throttle)

assuming the servo is fine in the rx on its own then disconnect the linkage and leave the servo running on its own incase it is a linkage issue, again unlikely but lets narrow down here.

cheers

Thanks for all of the replies.

I have already uploaded from the gyro, and it is set for the 9254.

From the input given, my plan is to:
1)rebind the Rx
2)Try a different servo
