I just read a review of it and I am dissapointed with what was said. Alot of people don't like the piro rate and also said it was confusing to set up... Well looks like I am getting the 401 and 9257... Now the money... Hmm

Out of those two gyros I would go with the 401. It's really a plug and play gyro that works. I really didn't like the Logitec/Hitec gyro's for some reason. I know a lot of other people do but I really didn't have good luck with it holding well in inverted backward flight. The 401 always works for me. The only problem I have with the 401 is not getting a consistent piro-rate, it's really never consistent and really it's not that bad at all. A lot of that could be the way I fly maybe I need better collective managemet

Is smooth piro-flip and constant piro funnel important to you? Then I would suggest HG5000 combo or LT2100 combo. If neither is important, I would say go with GY401. I believe 401 is a little more tolerant to vibration than 5000 or 2100. But, if you have a vibration problem, I would sort it out rather than resorting to a more tolerant gyro.

If you are getting either LT2100 or HG5000, be sure to get the combo only. I had two LT2100 with 9650s. The combo will lock in much better.

For a long time the 401 was my go-to-guy for gyros. Very easy set up, good performance, great crash resistance and some what affordable.

Then about a year ago I built a Pixy Zap and figured I'd give the LT2100 a try b/c it was smaller, lighter & cheaper than the 401. The set up was a little more involved yes, but the LT2100 has been a great gyro. In fact that is what is going into my Beam. I'm just waiting on my ESC and it will be done.

There are lots of posts on setting up the LT2100. And once you do it once it's not hard at all. And I really do like being able to set up the travel limits in BOTH directions. That is one that that always really bugged me about the 401.

I can't say how it does for hard 3D pilots b/c I'm not one. I'd call myself an aggressive sport flyer. And the 2100 has been awesome for me.

ok that's good to know red z06.... I do eventually want a very consistent piro rate and my solve that for me by getting a Spartan. For the time being though I want to start doing that kind of stuff. Does the 5000 have a fast piro rate? I have heard it is slower than the 401.

You can set the ATVs at 150 which is uselessly fast IMO.

I have the new Hitec gyro, servo combo, and am not all that impressed. Jason C. flew my Beam and said it had a weird feel to it, and would not give that killer lock in feel. I did everything I could also to make sure I got the gyro locked in, in rate mode, and even calibrated it. It definately feels different than a 401.

I'm about to go back to a 401 and try this new digital servo HGD-201HB with .07 speed I just ordered. I hear it works better than the s9257.

Spec.
Speed: .07sec/60deg
Torque: .9kg
Weight: 9.1g
Size: 23x11.4x25mm

Yea, the Spartan is the best out there and give the best killer lock in hold. The s9257 is true and tested. I always like to try new things just for the fun of it.

But, as for somebody that flies as hard core as Jason C. I've yet to have anybody close to his skills say the Logictech or new Align Hitec is better than the 401.

For somebody like me, who ain't no 3D Banger wizard, the new Align isn't bad.
