Main Discussion > Instruction manuals that came with your new heli kit.

Thought I would start this post based on many, many complaints on the instruction manuals that come with everything from new kits to cnc upgrades. Some kits come with no manuals what so ever, you have to down load them. Some are more of a guide and you have to figure the rest out yourself. I don't understand this. It would seem that the manufactures would want you to have the best manual to build the kit or cnc upgrade to there spects so as not to crash or damage the heli. I for one got a full cnc head upgrade with no manual what so ever. The manufacture said look at the so in so and so in so manual to get an idea. This is totally unacceptable, put 3 heli kit manuals together to get the information I need to assemble the new cnc head? Ive got better detailed manuals from the toaster oven I purchased!!!! And most everyone knows how to work one of those. These are high tech, High rpm, Potentially dangerous machines and you get a lack luster or no manual at all??? Come on something isn't right here. Am I just venting here and complaining over nothing or is this a major problem industry wide? Any and all replies welcome because I would like to know what other people have experienced.

Agree 100%. It is a combination of laziness and cheapness on their part. It is very hard to write a good manual, not to mention time consuming and costly. I was VERY disappointed when my R50 (now sold) Kasama Head came with NO manual?????

The Stork did not bring an instruction manual for either of my daughters..

No assembly required...but a training manuel would of been nice.

It's OK....It's not your fault !!!

Recent X-Cell Manuals

Ion-X2 Manual

Razor 600 Manual

The 450 and 50 nitro manuals will be about the same.

I like that, and is the norm (the 450 and 50 nitro manuals will be ABOUT the same).

Horizon has set the bar for manuals. The 450SA I built the book told you everything you needed to know (with a JR slant of course) same with the Vibe 50. The Audacity manuals are excellent as well.

Most of the rest are just cad drawings with some penciled in pointers.

I thought the manuals for the Thunder Tiger Raptor 30, and 60's where great. I also thought the way back manual for the Nexus 30 was pretty good.
On the bad side, the Century Predator Carbon blows.. the carbon parts are in one manual and the other bits are in another, on top of that any updates aren't even in the manual (ESS), which requires you to strip the motor back down and reassemble. I'm still fighting though it.. Soon... Soon...
Is it the more expensive the heli, the less they need to do for you manual wise?
OMG, just looked at the ION manual.. That was like heaven! No blurry pictures, color no less. I suppose all the parts for each assembly was in labeled bags too..

Yeah the big problem with MA manuals though? They do CONTINUAL kit updates without updating the manuals. Or the manual updates are horrid. The original MA manuals released with first run MA kits are fine, it's after that that it is downhill. Take the Fury Extreme for example, what a debacle. Ask me how I know.

The manual for the Logo 500 & 600 is damn nice although since it's combined you have to make damn sure that you're trying to assemble the right helicopter

Some have complained about a lack of notes, but it works well for me just with the clear and well illustrated pictures - but I'm a visio-spacial thinker.

The absolute PISSER about Align Manuals? No step by step instructions on each page. Just some pics and part numbers/bags. Yes, they are easy to build and I have no issues but if they are your first heli, what a PITA. Some build steps/notes would sure be nice.

Yea, What about a first time builder? I mean lets say he never put together anything before. How would the manual look to him? Hmmm I wonder what he had to go through needless to say we on RR to get him through the build!!!!

It was more than 3 years ago and I chose a Raptor 50 in no small part due to the existence of raptortechnique.com. The Raptor manual sucked, but the available resources made it the one with the best "manual".

For the Align series of helis, the Finless build videos are better than any manual could be anyway. I always recommend people to just download those...

I'll admit that Raptor technique was a huge help, but I thought the manual was good enough to get the Raptor together, just not trimmed perfectly.

Well I guess somebody needs to pay finless for all the hard work he has done! I might guess or only speculate that the manufactures are relining on him to keep us going.. It just don't seem right that they can not or will not produce a legible instruction manual for there products. Were not talking about a small plastic toy gun but something as dangerous as a real fire arm, yet the toy gun comes with instructions. I just don't understand. I see and hear from the safety police on every subject concerning flying near other people/front yards and the like. What about the manufactures negligence in turning out helis without proper instructions?
