Engines Plugs Mufflers Fuel > Raptor 90 scale helicopter

I have had my Raptor 90 standard for over 2 years now, and I have loved it. I started with an OS 91, had some initial run issues that a perry pump fixed. I ran that engine until it could do no more. I needed a new inexpensive option and purchased a TT Pro 90 for my scale MD 500. It ran very good over past year until a recent leaning out problem. The engine suddenly leaned out and toasted the insides. I like the TT pro 90 so well I decided to purchase another engine. I cannot get the second TT Pro 90 to tune. I have it choking on fuel and it still runs very hot to the point it is detonating. It is running so rich that my helicopter is totally covered in fuel and it will still run hot. I pulled it out of the helicopter and after only 3 tanks of gas I have piston sleeve scarring. This new engine is on its way to totally burning itself up. I have tried to contact ace hobby without response. I have never had a more difficult engine to tune in my life.

I don't want a really expensive super powerful engine, I would rather have dependability and ease of tuning for a scale helicopter. What would you do? Purchase an OS or YS? Trust this lemon of an engine to my scale Raptor 90?

First, I would check all your fuel lines including the clunk line.

Second, I would clean/replace the fuel filter.

Lastly, I would swap the carbs and see if that helps.

Sorry to read about your tuning issues but do yourself a favour and ditch the TT 90.

All new

Fuel lines, fuel filter, all are new and in the same configuration as previous engine. I think that if I keep trying to get this engine running it is going to drive me out of the helicopter hobby due to frustration. I still have no return mail from TT about the engine.

You're not the first person that's had to deal with a TT engine to say that. I have an OS91 SZ-H in my Raptor 90. Nothing but good things to say about it.

if you don't want the cost of a 90 engine fit the os70 with the 10 tooth pinion from the raptor 60
but do recheck all your fuel lines , tank, filters for air leaks

md500 raptor 90 with os70 and 11t pinion but go with the 10t
