Where I was at ALL of the dogs that this happend to went out to the adoption kennel (I use to work at the Kennel as a helper and my step father owned some dogs). As far as I know we did not have any dogs from KY???
My step father and his partner currently have racing greyhounds and I can assure you that those dogs are treated very well and DO NOT get put down becase they can not run. I do not really care for the whole thing but I do know that the dogs are treated well and every dog they own is always accounted for and respected.
I guess I can only speak for my step father and his partner on their treatment of the dogs - not the whole industry... I would think that the last 5 years that part of my family has been involved in the industry would give me a little bit of credit but it probably does not.
All I can say is belive what you want... I have been around the industry and heard the stories, but I have yet to see the mistreatment and wrong doing that some people make it out to be. I did see one kennel helper hit a dog one night with a dish and he was turned in for it and fired. Maybe it was worse in the past and that is where the bad press has come from or maybe I am blind. Either way I help with adopting dogs out where I can and if I see someone mistreat a dog I will turn their A$$ in... Thats all I can really do
