e-E-Flite Blade CP CX 400-3D > Blade 400 3D Better gyro for blade 400?

The other day I flew a friend's blade 400 and my biggest problem was the sloppy tail. I am 14 years old and have experience with larger heli's, but would like to have a recreational helicopter for around my house.

Question; has anyone put a "real gyro" (JR, or Futaba) on there 400, and does it fly with the tail "locked in" like a larger heli. If so what are its limitations,( tic-tocks, side ways flight, etc....)

thanks,
Kyle Dahl

Im not to the point of flying 3D but i use the JR 500T and it holds real nice in sideways and slow backward flight pretty good. Its a big improvement over the stock one.

You may get some good answers if you read existing posts. The blade 400 tail issues and gyro replacements have been discussed, debated and remedied at least 100 times already. I'm sure many people (myself included) are no longer interested in typing the same answer over and over.

also, a blade 400 is a pretty bad choice for in house flying, unless you happen to live in a gym. despite it being smaller than your average glow heli, those blades still carry a huge amount of energy. A micro class heli is a much better in house choice.

When I said "around my house" I meant outside. I live on a 20 acre property with lots of open space . But thanks for the warning, I don't think my mom would like me cutting up her plants.

ahh that makes more sense for around the house! i've spun my 400 up inside the house before to check tracking, never had the guts to actually lift off. You will probably find yourself flying the 400 more than your glow helis! it is just soooooo much easier to drop in a battery and fly, never having to worry about an engine not cooperating. (I haven't flown any of my glow fleet this year yet)

I have the Hitec 5000g gyro and jr 3400g tail servo on my Trex 450 and it seems to be just fine with that said I used to have a Blade 400 and all I did to make the tail better was to move the tail link rod in on the tail servo horn so that it was on the 2nd hole out from the servo and set the gyro sensitivity setting in the radio to about 72% and it worked great I just flipped and rolled it no extreme 3d but it was more than fine for me Hope this helps...Gary
