| Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I vastly preferred the old version. I think it looked much more professional.
On this new version:
- All the new video has horrible compression, making it look blocky, blurry, and jittery from frames dropping (and no, its not my computer performance -- I have a dual core 3gig processor and 2 gigs of ram).
- The image buttons in the main tool bar at the top of the screen are also poorly compressed, so the edges around the letters are poorly defined and kind of blurry.
- The title banner and toolbar at the top is far too large. I run very high resolution (1920 x 1200) and still the main content of the page starts a third to halfway down the screen. For someone running a lower resolution, they would have to scroll down on every page to even get to the beginning of the page content. Then when you want to navigate to another page, you have to scroll all the way back up again to bring back the toolbar.
- There's just way too much going on everywhere: distracting videos drawing your eye away from the text you are trying to read, poorly laid out text that flows poorly.
- The two "click here" buttons on the left just make the page look cluttered and remind me of tabloid or informercial advertising.
- The flags drawn on the top of the screen imply that I can click on them to get the site in my language of choice, but in reality they do nothing. I suppose they are there to imply that I can run Phoenix in those languages when I buy it, but this is a poor and confusing way to convey that information.
On the whole it looks like something a student intern put together, whereas the previous one looked clean and professional. |
