I was at different heights, but 50-75 ft would be my guess.
A little wind is better than a calm day and once you cut the power, you need to go to zero to 1-2 deg negative pitch. This keeps the rotor speed from deteriorating too quickly. You come done at a slight angle with the heli flat. then 5 -10 ft above ground you flare slightly, this increases rotor speed and decreases forward movement, as the heli begins to settle you increase pitch and use some of the rotor intertia you have built up. if done right the heli "gently" settles to the ground and the rotors spin down.
It really is a "kick" to get it done....and it was so easy I did 10 more on a fresh set of lipos....up, down, up, down.
It's really harder on the sim becuase of periphial vision. in real life you can see everything. I still crash on the sim but can do them pretty good at the field.
keep practicing until flipping the swi and going negative become normal....then just go for it....
