e-E-Flite Blade CP CX 400-3D > Blade 400 3D tail roter mixing question

I just bought the 400 and have been hovering and getting used to the bird. I noticed that the tailrotor does not have any mixing with the collective. I don't really have any tail rotor control problems but it feels very stiff. Does the heading hold gyro do all the work of keeping the tail straight? I thought of decreasing the gain and seeing how that works but also thinking of mixing some right tail with increasing the collective. I just stepped up to a 400 from a CCP which is what I learned to fly on. Did anyone else do this or should I keep the stock set up?

Honey, if I have to explain it...then I know you will not understand.

Flick the "flap/gyro" switch and see if you like it better. You're the first person I'm aware of that complained of the tail being too stiff. Take a couple points off the gyro if you still don't like it. Pretty soon you'll be asking for more tail authority not less.

thanks, I copied the model and am starting to play with the gyro settings. I also mixed some throttle/rudder but will not see how it works till tomarrow at work...I really like having the freedom to change the settings.

Yeah it's nice having 2 settings at the flick of a switch isn't it? I'm loving it.

FWIW,
I'm no expert on this but I don't think you want to use any mixing with a HH gyro.
From everything I've read, when using this type of gyro REVO Mix and Mix 1&2 should always be inhibited.
That's coming from Finless Bob, who I do consider an expert.

From what I understand mixing is usually used for tail motor driven heli's.

I took the mixing out and did what Speed recommended...I took the gain down to 60% and I like it better. The tail is still solid but is a lot smoother. I might try mixing later but I'm having too much fun with the set up now. I have about 15 packs through the 400 without a crash. I know my first one is coming... The park next to the house was a nice size for my CCP but got a lot smaller with the 400
