Scale Model RC Helicopters > My First Scale Build A109 Thunder Tiger Fuse using Raptor 90SE mechanics.

I have read the MHW review, and they seemd to say apart from a few niggles, making sure the retracts work in sync and dont bind, it was nice and easy scale model to put together.

I am thinking of doing one for the summer/Autmn project, bit by bit.

I just wonderd if anyone here has built the same scale fuse ?

many thanks

A friend at our club built and recently flew one.

According to him it was a straightforward built, including the retracts.

He flew it for the first time last weekend, and it was really sharp in the air.

Right now I'm in the process of building the Thunder Tiger A109 using Raptor 90 SE. Every thing fits perfectly with no modification.

It should be flying some time next weekend. Will try to put some photos.

Heads up, it's my turn to crash & burn , NOT EVEN

just take your time and get the retracts working correctly before you fit the mechanics there's nothing worse than having to take the mechanics in and out a few times to get things right

and a raptor 90 in the tt md500 body

tell me about those retracks. That was the biggest issue that I ran into. Spent close to 2 hours making sure that it all lines up and not one lower then the other side or some thing. Also when you do get it lined up, make sure that it locks in place.

thanx X,

I have orderd the 90Se kit and the fuse, so i will begin next week sometime

What servo's did you use on the cyclic ?

They recommend a head speed of 1500rpm, so i will get a GV1,

Matt

Made the fisrt flight yesterday and every thing went perfect.

Head speed was set to 1650 rpm with no vibration during flight.

For the servo's, I used futaba 9252 all the way around. Didn't feel like changing servo's since the heli was flying perfect already and didn't want to reset every thing again.

Good Luck matt with the build,

as others have said take your time and dont rush it when it comes to the retracts,

Nice to see you taking the challege upon yourself.

Hope you are well,

I see your 2 pals are up to their old tricks again, altering their profiles, opening and closing topics after posting baiting comments.

Dont rise to it, mate.

A long time no see mate, on here,

i will be taking a lot of time on the retracts as everyone i have spoken to on the phone and on here have said, it is a really nice easy to fit scale machine, but you need to get the retracts accurate.

I am really looking forward to getting this finished, i finished inputting all the radio gear last night and i am just off to the field to try out, my aim is to fly it in pod and boom format as the MHW mag suggested, because once it goes into a fuse working on it becomes very hard.

But it will be nice to fly it in nice big circuits with it, i hear it does grace the sky lovely.

Keep in touch.

well Raptor90Se has been built and is now ready for test flight and tweaks on setup, hopefully over the weekend i will get some time to try it.

How Dr Tim finds time with 8 kids i will never know!!

I struggle with 4, haha

Well the box arrived today, i found web site in the MHW mag, Pegasus models, they were the cheapest and did free P+P, ordered Monday morning arrived by courier today.

I have just taken some opening shots, but i will post up a thread of build process and some video as well,

This is my first scale build attempt from bits, in times past i have bought second hand and then just added and tweaked what was already there.
SO i am looking forward to doing this one myself, I was told by as scale expert about time i did it myself instead of paying someone LOL.

I am sure i will be asking sme questions sooner or later.

Matt
