| I thought that too. Neither orientation makes the rod go exactly down the center of the boom.
The rest of the geometry seems to indicate that the longer arm should go under the boom and the short arm (which is about the same length as the servo arm) should stick out to the side. And I see that the tail bell-crank ball is slightly on the starboard side, so it sort of makes sense that the other one would be a bit to port.
