here I am after I flew my T-rex 600e I went to charge the rx 2s align 1900 pack and when I plugged it in the charger showed 6.5v I had run the battery down just a bit to much but anyway the charger said voltage to low press + to recover so I did then it started pulling alot of amps and the screen dimmed and I herd a big pop and flame blew out the battery side of the charger!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had it all set right to lipo 2s 1.5a any ideas? I thought I remembered someone else having the same problem a while back but cannot remember. I will call thunder power monday and tell them about it.

I never charge anything on my 1010 without using the 210 balancer. I'm guessing maybe one of the cells in the align pack was overdischarged resulting in massive internal resistance causing to charger to pull more amps? I understand the align pack doesn't have a balancing tap, that is the reason I threw my align pack in the trash and got a 2 cell TP pack.

I dont want to be a pain here but none of what you said is valid or even true. I do use the 210 balancer, the align pack does have a balance tab and internat resistance pulling more amps is totaly wrong the 1010 moniters amperage and there is no way a battery can just pull amps the only thing the 210 balancer does is at the end of the charge it keeps any cell from being over charged by keeping them the same.

the charge had not even started yet is was just doing the voltage check when it fried

I dont have pictures but could take some but it would not help much because you cant tell from the outside any damage somthing inside blew and it did shoot flame out the side.

Sounds like a capacitor blew on you...it happens on occasion. Looks like TP owes you a new charger

What are the main packs that you use 1010+210 for? If it is for small packs, my suggestion is to go out and buy a 610c for intrim. When the 1010 comes back repaird, you can choose to sell it (most likely new). If not(out of warranty), then you have not killed a month waiting for a only charger from coming back.

Is it still under warranty?

I had the same thing happen to a tme extrema ...the I plugged it into my car battery to charge my logo 14 10s pack and the charger started bringing out smoke. It eventually stated made a popping sound, and it seemed like there was a little fire going in the charger. I didnt see any though, but it smoked like crazy!

if im not blade bogging youll find me pack puffing

Excellent Service....

There is a place on their site to request an RMA and once they recieve it they may call you or reply by email....
If you give them a call, I am certain that you will be taken care of quickly... my problem was handled on Monday and the new equipment to me on Thursday.....
It is just like any electronic equipment.. it works 100 times and on 101 it can "pop"!!!! But you have an excellent company to deal with... I would just call Monday morning...Good Luck Stan

If there is a cure for this, please don't tell me about it!!!

I had a problem with a TP 6 cell. It also destroyed my 210. I RMA'd with TP and they handled it in a very professional manner. Send them an e-mail, to get the process started. My experiance has been that they fully back their products. Replaced both my battery and balancer with new ones free of charge. You shouldn't be out a month. Maybe a week.

Love my TP-1010/210 combo. Nothing but praise to the TP professionals. That's the reason I sold all my Evo packs and went with 5 x TP 5000mAh 6s for my Trex-600E.

I've had them replace 3 or 4 things for me (one was my 1010c), and they always had the new one to me within 3-4 days. Fill out the RMA form, and they'll send you an email telling you that as soon as they have a tracking number for yours that you are returning, they'll send the new one out.

Eury:

I didn't know TP would release the replacements when they receive a tracking number. That is putting a lot of faith in customers as well. It makes me very proud to be part of TP Team.

Wingman:

Please tell us how things are progressing.

Were did you learn ohms law?? I=E/R. How does massive internal resitance cause the charger to pull more amps?

lol especialy since the charger limits the amps that is the main job of the charger.

anyway I will ship the charger in the morning and will keep you updated.
