Hi,

I used to run my Dynatron on a 10 cells 12v 1800mAh NiCd pack before to start my YS91 without any problems. Well, I've just moved and had to sell that pack for several reasons.

I have now bought 2 1500mAh NiCd packs to run my Dynatron, connecting them so it will be 14.4v. I tried to use them today and they just don't have the power to start my YS91, the packs gets really warm and they hardly turn the engine. The engine has been sitting for more than 7 months, so maybe that's the problem. I can turn the engine with the packs without the glow plug.

I am just wondering if I should buy a another pack making it 3x1500mAh packs....Any tips....The LHS said it should be enough.

Depends more on the discharge capabilities of the cells than the MAH rating, although bigger packs do tend to give more. A couple of decent 6 cell car packs should have no problem whatsoever turning your starter.

ok. I am not sure what the discharge rate is, it doesn't say, but I am suspecting they are not such good quality. They where only 20 dollars a piece. I need to recharge them and try again.

It works fine now with my setup. I just needed to charge the packs a few times until they woke up....
