I'm putting a new clutch lining in my synergy N-9. This is the first time I've ever done this on a heli. Should I glue it in? If so with what? Is there a general procedure for doing this? Thanks.

Lots of great general info that relates to all helis.

Remove old liner - Once you finally get the bell unstuck and off then you need to remove the old liner. First try using an exacto blade between the liner and the bell to seperate the liner. If this does not work then you can soak the liner in acetone but be sure you don't get any in the bearing.

Install new liner - Here are a few ways:
1) Clutch Dummy - Although I don't have one of these yet, I think it is a great idea. The tool is made such that the liner will have a 0.005" gap between it and the clutch and it will be centered.
2) standard method - Glue the stock liner in with 5 minute epoxy. Put two* layers of electrical tape tightly around the clutch and insert it in the bell. *Two wraps of tape should give you the right gap size but I did once have some high quality tape that was a lot thicker and only need one layer. Before you glue the liner in you should put a slight curl to the ends of the liner. I have noticed that if you don't then you end up with a flat spot where the two ends meet each other.

You can use a leathe if you have acess to one. That is how i removed mine. you will need to cut at the lowest speed possible. I think i cut mine at 36 RPM.

I used 5 min epoxy and a sandwich bag or zip lock bag over my clutch in stedd of tape. It keeps all the glue off the clutch. Don't forget to pre fit the clutch liner to get the sizing right. Good Luck.
