| Rebuilding a servo is not rocket science. If you have any electromechanical experience, you can do it. Attention to detail, and careful assembly will insure reliable operation. Just buy the gear replacement kits, and replace them ALL for piece of mind. Contrary to popular belief, the most important part to replace is the wire lead (unless you are doing a crash repair, as you are). Most of them get stressed and strained until the wires start to fray inside the shielding/jacket. This usually happens right at the and of the strain relief. I just cut it off at the strain relief, push it through ad re-solder it. Good as new. I feel much safer after rebuilding my own, than I do sending them in and HOPING they do it right. Not to mention the cost difference and inconvenience of sending them in. Of course if you don't feel comfortable doing it, just sent them in. |
