There is no need to adjust the linkage to remove drift in rate mode.
If you do this will not get full & equal travel of the tail pitch slider. Mechanical setup is critical for maximum tail strength of your current setup.
You are only required to remove drift in rate mode if you intend to fly only in rate mode.
One of the features of this gyro is that it is equipped with an auto trim function & it's purpose is to allow a smooth transition from the Normal Mode to Heading Hold mode.
If you have initialised the gyro correctly & still have drift in Heading Hold mode, then I would be looking elsewhere for the cause of your drift problems.
I have seen drift problems with the G770 gyro caused by too low a gain value, airframe vibrations & also caused by the gyro tape itself, just to name a few.
Over here in Australia, there have also been a few reports of drift caused by faulty gyros.
