There is a subset of the SWM manual in my gallery in the files section at the bottom. It's in Adobe Acrobat PDF format.

The important stuff is covered. I had to cut out some of the unnecessary pages (like the flight instruction stuff) to get it under 10MB.

I just completed this conversion on my 50 recently. The conversion wasn't that bad. Just a tip; use a 1.5mm allen wrench to push the pins out of the elevator control arms. Do this and you don't have to split the frames to get the control arm assembly out.

Hi

I have also done the conversion. I would recomend using 15mm servo arms instead of the recomended 12,5mm. With the 12,5mm the servo needs to rotate too far and you get terible control interactions. With the 15mm, the geometry is better and the control interactions are MUCH less.

How much is the conversion? Any real benefit to the conversion?

It only took a couple of hours to complete. You can get the conversion for around $80. Find a copy of the SWM manual before starting the install.

I can feel the difference with it. It makes the collective/cyclic more snappy and instant. I'm enjoying it with 9451 servos at 6 volts.

Is it needed? Not really but in my opinion, if you want that extra response then it's worth it. Combine SWM with modified Freya mixing arms and you have a real performer. I can't imagine what a set of 8717 servos on this setup would feel like. I may try 8717 servos down the road.

Hi latesleeper

Do you have any info on the mod. Freya mixing arms?
Did you try different lengths?
What did you find best, etc, etc?

Paul

pwood,

I followed racingstrip's post on the mixing arms.
http://runryder.com/helicopter/t346293p1/

Plastic Freya mixing arms with the ends dremmed down to the last hole. Outer hole in seesaw. Outer hole in the blade grips. Stock flybar and stock paddles with no weights. I have a couple pictures in my gallery
if you want to check them out. Servo arms at 12.5mm. Any more would be too much throw and you'll loose transmitter resolution in your pitch curves.

I have idle up 1 set for +12/-12 and idle up 2 at +14/-14. Use a cyclic ring or you risk binding in the corners. 7.5 cyclic pitch.
