I know that "OMG the Aurora is out!!!!" but which do you prefer, the Ruger 10/22 or Marlin Model 60? I have a Savage 64 and its pretty decent, but is also pretty consistent with misloads. It seems I cannot buy a handgun in this state for another 6 mo, might as well buy another rifle, right?

I like the idea of being able to customize every part of the 10/22, but then again I don't want to spend $600 on a 22. Anyone used speedloaders on the Model 60?

Maybe I should just spring for the AK kit?

I have several Marlin 60's. I like the way the older ones are built. If you want something accurate out of the box try a Marlin 39 lever action .22. For not much more than the .22 and the AK kit you could have a real AK.

I had one of the old delux versions of the 10-22. On a stupid whim i sold it, wish i had it back. No experience with the others but i prefer the magazine type to the tube, and IMO the ruger mag is nicer than the savage cause it is flat with the bottom.

"OMG the Aurora is out"

Are you in search for a gun to specificly take down Auroras?
Sound like a job for a 7mm mag.

Nice collection! Business or just fun?

I went shooting yesterday. It was a quiet day at the range.

I want the new GSG-5. I plan on SBRing it and then getting a real can for it. But it is hard to find.

The M4 has a Ciener kit in it and with subs, it is hollywood quiet....I think the GSG-5 would be a hoot.

I have an old M60 that my father bought me when I was a kid. I also more recently bought a 10/22 target. The 10/22 will shot circles around the marlin. The Marlin 'is what it is'.. the 10/22 you can build into anything you want with all the aftermarket support.

The ATF will probably come knocking at your door now that you've posted that on a public forum

I am a fan of the 10/22, of course it is made in New Hampshire. I have a marlin bolt that is the most accurate 22 I have ever shot.

All my guns are semi-auto and purchased through a class 2 FFL dealer. I collect them and will sell for my retirement. Guns gain value faster than a 401k. Plus I really enjoy them.

I would get a 10/22 over a Marlin.

RonHill be careful with the GSG-5, its plastic and alot of people are complaining that it breaks to easily.

Really? I had not heard that, but I have not seen much on it.

Got a link to a forum where they talk about the problems so I can read up on it? Or any personal exp you can PM me?

My buddy who has a manufacturer's permit wants to get one and convert it to FA.

I just think it would be a cool plinker suppressed.

check on hkpro.com

I'm not saying that its a piece of crap. Its just made of plastic so you have to be more careful with it cause it will break more easily that a normal weapon

I've been extremely happy with my CZ 453. I have a decent number of rifles but this is by far the best rimfire I've shot.

my wifey before we were married bought me a ruger 10/22 and it has been an excellent rifle.shot the heck out of it back then in the west texas oilfield.
how come is it these clowns(or should i say Dicks) from other countries are so interested in our (american) politics and gun ownership. i'm pretty sure my ruger 10/22, ruger .22/.22mag single six(stainless),british .303 enfield or the wifes taurus 9mm will even reach all the way across the ocean even with a tail wind.

It's unAmerican to not own a 10/22.

One could say the same about the 60, its supposedly the most numerous .22 ever sold.

I think I will probably go with the 60. The 10/22 has more options for mods, but the 60 seems to do better out of the box. I probably won't spend a lot modding anything I buy, so the 60 makes the most sense.

I took my stainless 60 with a Tasco scope prarie dog hunting last year. It was good for 100 yards and in and a heck of a lot of cheap fun.
