Hey Guys. Got pretty tired of waiting 70 Minuts pluss for one AirThunder 22.2v 5000 mAh 6-cell Li-Po battery to charge for my T-rex 600. So today I ordered the "Hyperion EOS 0610i Duo Dual Li/NiMH/A123 Balancing Charger" and the "Integy Super Power Station 36A 12V Power Supply". I have read a lot of what everyone had to say about a lot of things. I also did call tech. support for more info on the products but ultimately "I" had to decide what to get. So what are the valued openions of my fellow flyers on this set up. I'm eager to hear from ya all.. Thanks

After being sick for over 15 days and not flying for 12 days I went out today with some new equipment I bought wile sick. It is the "Hyperion EOS 0610i Duo Dual Li/NiMH/A123 Balancing Charger". Last night I charged my Air Thunder 22.2V / 5000mAh 6S Batts. They had sat for 12 days so I used the unit to balance the cells in SOLO MODE. That worked fine so I went into charge mode next and lo and behold it worked great. Usually I do not charge the night before but I wanted to get used to the new charger. I went out to the field today and got in some very easy and safe flying because I'm still not well. I used both packs and went to charge the first pack that had by now cooled down. When I put it into charge mode it began beeping a warning saying "Balance volage cell (0) TOO LOW". I fiddled with things for a wile but could not figure it out. So I put on the other battery that was still warm and this time it said "Balance volage Cell (4) TOO HI". I went into the Balance Menue and looked at all the cells and could see each voltage for each cell and indeed cell 4 was higher then the rest. So I set it to balance the cells and let it go. When they were all even I went back to charge again and it still did not work. It said " Balance Volage Cell (0) TOO HI". Well 4 1/2 Hrs later none of us could figure out what to do with it. I went into my rant of cursing, packed all up and drove home with some real hi blood pressure let me tell you. I spent a fortune on this piece of Electronics and this is what I got. In the menue for Balancing you can show cell average and they are at 2.69 / I think I had read that they should not go below 3.40 each. So I tryed droping the charge rate down to 1/2 an amp from the 5 amps to see if I could bring up the average cell voltage but that did not work either. But then I thought; the other battery gave a warning that the "Balance Volage cell (0) TOO HI". When I looked At each of those cells they were around 3.6 and 3.7 each and the unit still would not charge the batts. It kills me because last night it charged the batteries just fine. I feel really stupid not being able to figure this out and I want to punch something I'm so mad. what a waste of a day. I never had this problem with the Super Brain 989. ( at half the cost ) Please explain so I can understand what to do to fix this. Now you can ask me " What do I Think" LOL

Also who would I call for Support on this unit if i have to. I can not find anything listed except the manual that is on line. Before i bought the unit from Amainhobbies I spoke to there tek support about it but i do not think they will handle this. It seems like more of a question for the MFGR of the charger.

Now I could have edited this down but I want to show the importance of having the required specs for the equipement that the Mfgr requires. So- My Bad!!! The power requirements were given for this particular charger, I thought I followed them to the T. It turns out that the power supply I bought 2nd hand was not what I was told it was. I think it was only putting out about 5 amps, maybe a little more. The 13 VDC was there as my multi meter showed. So one last ditch effort on my part tonight was to get at the back of my radio desk ( I'm a ham radio opperator ) to my main 40 amp power supply and rig it to hook to my new charger. I was then able to view the amp meter wile turning on the Hyperion charger and keep track of it wile going into charge mode. Sure enough it was pulling 19 amps with some peeks of almost 21. Now everything is working fine and I lost a full day at the field trying to figure out what was wrong with the wrong part of the system. I hope somebody will learn from my mistakes...
