e-E-Flite Blade CP CX 400-3D > Blade CX2 Can a CX2 use a ppm (FM) receiver?

I pulled the AR6100e from my CX2 to use on one of my planes. I thought I could just replace the receiver with a gws fm receiver and an old futaba skyport 4-channel fm tx I had lying around. Unfortunately with the fm receiver, the 3-in-1 esc doesn't arm. I get servo functions, but the led just alternates flashing red and green. I checked everything including reversing ch3 and playing with the trims, but no luck.

Is there a spektrum specific signal that the 3-in-1 is looking to get from the rx? I read in other posts that the 3-in-1 is looking for a specific throttle point to arm. Another post said that the 3-in-1 "waits" until the spektrum rx locks onto the tx signal before it arms.

Does anyone know a fix for this? The only thing I can think of left is to buy an old cx 3-in-1 that was designed to be used for an fm system.

Thanks in advance.

Throttle trim and subtrim are important. I don't know all the details but yes, the 3in1 is looking for a specific throttle signal from the tx. What I've found works is when the 3in1 is trying to arm let it try for a few secs with the throttle stick down. If that dosen't work flip the throttle hold on and let it try for another few secs. If it still dosen't work flip the throttle hold back. By this point it works for me every time.

with 2 ears and 1 mouth you should listen twice as much as you talk

Thanks for the input.

The transmitter I'm trying to use is only a Futaba 4-channel skyport so I don't have a throttle hold. Maybe I can try playing with trim and see if there's a combination of movements that'll arm.
