Radio - Futaba FASST > Futaba 12z or JR 12x?

I currently have a JR x9303 2.4ghz and want to upgrade to either the new JR 12x or the Futaba 12z for the extra flexibility over the 9303 (especially the ability to assign switches to all any functions rather than the limited way the 9303 allows.)

I would be grateful for any input/ opinions.

Thanks

David

I traded my 9303 recently for the 12FGH and have no regrets. No one but JR reps has the 12X yet, so not too many folks have objective thoughts about it yet. Nor does anyone really know it's capabilities yet. I didn't want to wait for the 12X (Heli competition season will be half over with by the time it's released), so went back to Futaba with the 12FGH and FASST.

When it does come out, I think the 12X will more or less be analagous to the 12FG rather than the Z, from what little I could gather on it's programming capabilities (bling don't count).

if you want "(especially the ability to assign switches to all any functions rather than the limited way the 9303 allows.)" then Futaba is your choice, either 12Z or 12FG. I have downloaded and read through 12X manual, the switch assignment is better than 9303, but still cannot compare with Futaba. From what I learn from the screen shot in the manual, they are limited to some predefined switchs only, while the Futaba can assign a channel to almost anything, like switch, joystick, side slider, etc.... plus more, like freely to arrange the channel functions. I just changed from mode 1 to mode 2 recently, while most of the guys here are flying mode 1, with 12FG's channel assignment function, I can still fly my friends planes or helis using JR or Spektrum radios with the help of a trainer cord. I just need to arranged the channel seq. as JR does ! Futaba has the most powerful radio here.

Although the 12X is released recently, JR didn't learn all the good things from Futaba, still no one knows if the 12X can upgrade the firmware.

I played with both the 12Z Futaba and the 12X JR.

Futaba 12Z would be my pick.
