o.k. heres the deal I have a little fuel caddy that uses a small electric pump to fill my bird....the pump is rated fo 6-12 volts,I am using a 11.1 v lipo I had laying around, everything works fine, except that it pumps a little too fast. What I'd like to do is drop the voltage to around 6 volts,is there an easy way to accomplish
this?? resistors? what watt and what resistor? I've seen plenty of discussions on here about electronics
by some of you edjumicated folks(ha ha) so if ya can, please help me out!! thanks in advance........
here is a pic of my litle fuel caddy,so ya know what I'm working with.

Just drop the cell count

Just use a 2 cell Lipo instead of a 3 cell. 2 cell is around 7-8 volts.. A little higher than your target 6v. but a long ways from 12 and 13V.

Going with the 2S might be the ticket.

yeah a 2cell would be the way to go,but I have 3 three cell lipos left over from my cp pro,so I want to use them for something....

It's to fast on 3 cell??? For years we ran those pumps off a power pannel that was hook up to a 12V battery. I've been using a 3cell lipo myself and don't see any problems.

Seriously, it's to fast????

after using it a few times,I'd have to agree w/ everyone...its perfect ,not as fast as it seemed on the work bench.. I guess at 2am after putting it together and testing it as quietly as possible so I don't wake the baby didn't give me a true "field" test...thanks again

drop the 12 what ever

You can drop the voltage with a voltage regulator chip (such as LM317 or another in the series. This is a three pin chip (needs a heat sink) ,and depending on which on you choose in the series you can make an adjustable regulator or just pick a chip that is fixed to drop to the voltage you want, this will drastically cut down on external components. Just be wary of current capacities when choosing your chip. If you need a schematic let me know, I'll see if can somthing from my fried brain.

Put a BEC on there, it will drop your 3s to 5 or 6v depending on what model you use.

Tried it, was no fun when the clunk fell off inside the tank each time

The voltage regulator chip (such as LM317). will only cost you about 5 bucks at fry's. The heat sink can be any peice of metal. this is what I did and it works great.I am using the 18v Lithium mikata battery for my starter. I have ran a power lead so the pump can hook up to the 18v battery. I have ran at least 10 gallons with the pump now.
