| Whoa! No, just onto the shaft, between the pinion and against the inner race of the top bearing on the motor. The Trex 450 main shaft collar or similar collar has a step, so the small diameter face goes against the inner race of the bearing. You could use a stack of washers, etc.
I'll take a pic tonight. Yes, mines a 1100kV Zpower 30A motor, the 800kV version probably needs it too- in fact, now that you have the motor apart, you see that there is nothing preventing the rotor/shaft from sliding out of the bearing in the end of the case which bolts to the heli mount.
I was doing consectutive aileron tic-tocs when it happened, and with a weaker battery so the motor was bogging. It could be this sort of abuse that led to the shaft/rotor slipping out of the motor case. I didn't want it to happen again, and the fix was simple.
