Can I put my 2 cents?

I agree with both sides on these argument! And Like 2old2fly I just started on the Hobie also with a Walkera. I just bough a Blade 400 about 4hrs ago! Still in the box! I was going to get a trex500 they have there but even they told me that since I'm new at these that would be too much to start(a kit).

Don't get me wrong I'm getting one a 600 even but not just now! I don't know how many of you guys have or like motorcycles!(another addiction!) but you don't go and buy a 1300cc crouch rocket to learn on it! Well there some that have done but we can see them at the 5pm news!

These things are not toys and can cause some serious damage on hands of new people like me, that one reason that I went for a walkera and then a blade.

There are both strong points, but My opinion is that it depends on the person and the different situations, like mine I will love a nitro(maybe later), but then I will have to pack and drive to a field away from where I live(city) with electric I can play around with it even indoor!
So keep every one happy I'm getting both!!!

TJinGuy They do sell them bare bone(with a few components)from $0.01 to $100 the most on ebay

30636086,

Please don't fly your B400 indoors. It is an serious accident waiting to happen. It may be small, but it will do alot of damage if your not careful. Just my opinion.

Shhh, don't tell the wife.

what 200 dollar heli are we talking about??because the last I saw a BLADE400 was close to 450-500 bucks...

I was talking about the blade 400. I paid a little over $400 but thats with the tx. So your really only talking about $200-$300 flying around in the air. If it smashes onthe ground, the radio is still in perfect condition, unless you bounce is off the concrete out of anger. Thats what I meant about only a few hundred dollars flying around out of the box. Not to mention it's cheaper then the CP. (crashes are less frequent and parts are half the price). BTW for you guys flying with the blade 400 woodies, I suggest using the align woodies instead, wala no more problem with the white heat shrink

PS. I have to say it is a great heli (not the greatest in the world)sorry gotta throw that in there so there isn't a trex uproar. I started with a blade CP as my first heli which we all know isn't easiest to learn on. I could hover it some and some very littel forward flight in a big feild. It is more like suggesting where it was going to crash. My uncle got a blade 400 and next to my 'bird' it looked like a joke so I jumped and got one. I couldn't believe the stability it had, and how easy it was to fly. the hovers were rock solid and for the first time, I could fly a battery pack without having to replace the over priced blades/spindles/main shaft.

See what happens when you get me talkin about helis?

What is up with the Blade 400?

Don't worry Steven I wont! She is up "on display" for now until I read all the literature that came with it!

I may even put a pit jar near the helis for the "needy", because I know that I'm gonna "needy" more(spare) parts for them in the near future!

HA! I wasn't going to post mine because of the inevitable "I have a trex and therefore know all" backlash from some of the guys but after I saw yours I couldn't resist. Right on 306!

Meet my "let's try keep things cooler under there but still have a bright coloured orientation cue" canopy.

I reeeeeaaally take my time now so I don't bother, offend or just rub people like you the wrong way! When I first got in here I was assuming that these forums were to help new comers like myself with advise, tips and knowledge, but I quickly notice that there are some English professors here among the heli enthusiasts!! But like I always say when I come across guys like that "its ok its not your fault!" "Let it go!!" So in short; for those of you that have young children, spend some time with them, pay attention to their needs and always tell them and remind them that you love them ,so they don't grow to be adults like some here!! That's my thoughts of today!!

POS I didn't know that you cant type with an accent! Hey but every day I learn something new!!

You are new I am new we all are new!! :-)

bpcomf

It all depends of YOU!! It depends of what you want, how fast you want it and off course!! HOW DEEP ARE YOUR POCKETS???? There is a few things that come into play on what to get?!! For example I will love to get a 600 nitro but since I'm new at these that will get someone hurt (or me) or damage to property of both! So there is things like that to consider. I went for a smaller electric because it was more practical for my needs!

But I try my Blade 400 today for first time and is a big difference on how it handle's compare to my other heli which is smaller!! So to yes bigger helis handle better than smaller but also can cause more damage!! SO YOU have to sit down and consider what is better for YOU!

There is real good guys here that can give you advise, but there is also guys that will recommend you what is better without thinking for a sec that you are new (like me) and will tell you get these or get that, but they forget that they have been flying for years!! And then is the these brand vs that brand!!

So thats my opinion as a newbe at these! One thing I can tell you "it's addicting"

I started with a CP

Not to sound contrary, because I agree with just about everything that has been said, but I started out with a CP and no flying experience. I have to say that it really jumpstarted my RC Heli career. If I had started on my T-Rex (Which I thought sucked until I learned how to tune it properly) I don't think I would have ever been sucked into the sport.

Granted, the CP was $190 when I bought it. This $500 business is a joke.

Ok just finish the autopsy! The autopsy revealed that

1- I'm gonna need new blades (got 2 sets of Align 325 for special occasion; do they need any mod to put them in? they are skinnier than the blade!:confusedIf not a have 2 set of stock ones!!

2- All servos need replacing!!(good time to upgrade!)Will go shopping tomorrow

3- Feathering shaft is more crocked than a politician( I don have one. Will go shopping tomorrow)

4- main shaft was bent ( I had a feeling so I took it off rolled on the desk and yes was bad!) replaced!!

5- main gear was strip (missing teeth just like a meth-head!!) replaced!!

I'm not sure about the fly bar!! And that's what scares me because I have no clue how to set the paddles so they be like they supposed to! But thanks to you I'm gonna look it up on that site to see if i can find it!! Thanks

POS These hobby you have to learn repairs quick and the hard way too!! Did that happen to you? Did you have someone that help you out, or just like me manuals and inter net?

FWIW.... I bought a secondhand Rap. 30 off fleabay...complete with charger/transmitter,field box etc., at less than the price of a bare kit.

Many people enter hobbies and try to "buy the skill"...that, as us older people know, doesn't work!......so, disillusioned/intimidated person flogs almost new gear at half-price.

As long as you are selective with what you buy, you can get some fantastic deals.

to those who say the 30 size is dead.....it's an excellent ,adequately -powered starter which can always be upgraded to a 50 when you next pile it in.
