Flybarless Rotor Head Systems > CSM Flybarless help...

Set up the cyclock.....check....
Programmed elevator gyro per website instructions...check...
Programmed Aileron gyro per website specs...check....

I am using a hot setup- 8717's on 6.8 volts

The pitch movement is HOT...
However, with the gyros programmed, the cyclic servos move like dog poop.
I know it must be in the programming because if I do the quick setup routine, the frigging servos dash up adn down or side to side or front to back like LIGHTNING.

So, what gives. Is the system supposed to be "mushy" on the ground?
Does the condition improve in the air?

I have flown flybarless unstabilized and will go back to that if the cyclic movement isn't faster than what it shows on the ground.

Those who have a hot setup with the CSM system, please let me know how the servos look on the ground when you move elevator and aileron.

Perhaps I have done something wrong.

I can't say specifically wtih the CSM, but with the other flybarless systems I have flown (V-bar and SK360), that's exactly what you will see on the ground. Just like a heading hold gyro makes your tail servo move strangely, but it performs well in the air.

Hi Chris,

I fly 2 CSM720 on my R90SE and the speed is OK. I don't use a cyclok.
Do you use the CSM software for the gyros setup ?

Fred,
Yes, I use the CSM setup routine with the USB cable.
I also notice with Mode1 settings per the CSM website, I get some freakishsly weird elevator interaction. Gotta check that out.

Hey cmsilvoy

The swashplate on the ground will resemble that of a fairly standard/slow heli so I would say (without knowing your exact settings) that you are about right. In the air it will be different!

How does this "mushy" feel translate to movement on the blade grips?, do you have any intermediate mixing arm between the two? how did you adjust the mechanics to go flybarless?

I would recommend running with lower rates to begin with and then increasing to a position you feel comfortable. If the system is set up correctly it should be hard to tell the difference between your flybarless and flybar machines except in terms of power and headspeed retention.

** Also make sure your gyros are working with the correct sense!**

Dave Knows a lot about this system
with info from him Russ and CSM mine flew great 1ST time
i love it to bits on my trex 600n
i did find we did some thin wrong trying to set it up with no gain on the transmitter but apart from that it was it flew great on the settings from CSM i have tried changes and just put them back to CSM settings still playing but i am not disappointed at all.

what i will add is to me it looked a bit odd on the ground
the 1st time you take off balance the disk a bit more then normal and pop it off the ground as it is different but not in a bad way
mine seems to hover quite nice the more decay you have the more different it found it I'm using 1sec at the moment

1st couple of flight just get use to the feel and then some loops and rolls i must admit i got Noel good friend of mine with more experience to fly it 1st but all was parity sweet

i am using CSM settings from Rob Mode 0
might be worth a call to get a copy of the settings as i looked last time and there was only the setting for one of the Gyros.

it sounds like yaw rate demand to me. the gyro's are slowing the servo's to let the heli catch up!
