Miniature Aircraft Nitro/Gas Helicopters > Fury Extreme to Stratus Questions

I just recently accuired a Fury Extreme and I'm thinking of converting to a Stratus. I see Heliproz has the Fury to Stratus conversion kit but they dont list what it includes. My question is what parts come in the conversion kit and whether its worth it to convert to a Stratus. Thanks

Just my opinion, I liked my Fury better as an extreme. If you do it, you'll need a lower bearing block from a Tempest, HD clutch, and a few other odds and ends that I can't recall offhand. However, only do it if you want to be able to say you have a Stratus. You will not notice a difference in the way it flys, and the engine facing the wrong way means you need to use a glow extension now. Also, the slightest bump will throw off your fan to driver gap. Frames flex a ton on the Stratus.

Wow, the ground was closer than I thought.

Glad that's just an opinion

The new Stratus frames were designed to not flex as much and thus keeps the fan gap the same. Even if it moves a bit, what's the big deal? FWIW, I've seen a bunch of pilots heat their glow without an extension.

I do agree though, fly the Fury first and see how that goes. If you want a Stratus, they are lighter, the CG is better and you CAN tell a difference. Just my opinion though.

Well the deal was I bought it used and was going to take it apart to make sure everything was right just for piece of mind and I figured that if I had it apart I might as well make it a Stratus because I've always wanted one anyway. Any more opinions are welcomed.

I have some old frames if you wanna buy them. I converted mine to BW and thus will not be using the old ones. I also have a few other misc. parts if needed.

Depending on what you paid for the Fury, by the time you buy the conversion parts, etc, you could have bought a good used Stratus?? All this depends on the price paid, etc. I would just check the major assemblies, ball links, gear mesh, etc. and fly it first. The Fury is a great bird, and really, not very many pilots could tell the difference if they didn't know which heli they were flying. Both fly extremely well, (pardon the pun)

I'm of the opinion of keeping the Fury Extreme as is. I'd suggest purchasing a "used" Stratus or even a NIB Stratus.

I DID THE EXTREME TO STRATUS CONVERSION.YOU WILL NEED THE CLUTCH BEARING BLOCK. I also got the one piece TR drive gear block. That is all you will need besides the convsersion kit.

I converted my flying buddy Craig's Fury to a Stratus, here's a pic. Flies great of course, but you can see the closed tailbox off the Fury, as well as the stock Fury head, and the Fury "beater" canopy as well. Either canopy will fit, just a different placement of the standoffs. Good luck!
