Any of you ever think about writing your congressmen and senators, and asking about the war powers act, and war profittering act? After all, we are in a war time economy, and no price controls have been placed on commodities.
In WW2, which lasted less time then Vietnam, and Iraq. All of this ripoff **** was not allowed.
Now, suddenly, we have a food crises, every crop is failing, and Monsanto has a patent on every seed we use,
Starting to get the picture, ?? Its called Republican Politics, and Payback for backing the Decider. Think otherwise, then you need some education.

Honey, where's the check book, it's Fedex again

One way I delt with this BS is I got me a lil 4 cyl cavalier. I fill it with 40 bucks and drive back and forth to work for 2 weeks. Now the bad part, I am self employed and when I start work, I fire up the old E-350 box truck which is a complete gas hog. 100 bucks easy a week. Thats 3-4 days of work. No more pumping 5 bucks in like the good old days. You do remember that dont you? Man 10 bucks back then would last you a week of cruisin. Now it wont budge the needle

We have the largest oil reserves here in the states and do you know why we do? that's because it's cheaper to invade another country and steal their oil like we have been doing for the last 50 yrs., do you really think that these wars haven't been already planned? do you think that iraq wanted us to invade? their people didn't , but it was not up to them, it was already a plan between our govt. and saddam to go through with the invasion, same as with our impending war with iran, it is going to take place and guess who will take power?

Free health care... you're having a laugh.

Hey Umdpru, If our governments eliminated the duty on the fuels then we could halve the per gallon costs but then that doesn't leave us with any extra money to pay for the "FREE HEALTH CARE" and to help support you lot when you go charging off fighting everyman and his dog in the name of democracy... think before you spout off!

Ain't nothing free in this world except death.

That like $2 bucks a gallon for them since the Euro is worth almost double of the American dollar

Quite how you got from $10 Dollars to Euro's then back to Dollars $2 I don't know

Do you need help with the simple maths Buddy!!!!

I said UK......we don't have the Euro, we pay in pounds £'s.

We pay £1.25 per ltr, which equals £5.00 per American gallon (4ltrs to a gallon I believe......A UK Gallon is 4.55ltr so I worked to your ratio)

This is then £5.00 per US gallon and an exchange rate currently of 1.97 dollars to the pound equates to $10 in round figures

1 US Gallon = 3.79 Ltr

Actually, it works out to about $9.38 US Dollars. But, you have a 56.94 pence per litre tax for conventional diesel. That's nearly ten times the U.S. federal and state diesel taxes combined!!!!

The UK diesel tax is equal $4.27 per U.S. Gallon. That's why you pay so much more than we do... We only pay an average $0.55 diesel tax per gallon in the U.S.

It's also why Americans declared their independence so long ago

Damn, I never knew that stolen oil would cost so much more than that we used to buy on the open market.

I am sure you weren't alive during the second world war so can't see what you are personally taking credit for

More like the reason you go invading countries that provide oil

krav,

why is it our problem that your socialist governments decided to implement free healthcare and tax the living daylights out of you?

I pointed out a simple fact which directly affected your fuel costs. What those taxes go to support is none of my concern.

I wasn't alive then. But, my parents were. If it were not for the USA, they would be dead and I wouldn't even exist. I am not personally taking credit for anything. I am saying you're welcome on behalf of the hundreds of thousands dead American soldiers that fought for your country during WWI and WWII. If it wasn't for them, you would be speaking Deutsch with the French.

Yup... And we just hoard it all for ourselves. Don't worry, after Anwar and Colorado are producing enough oil for us, you can have all the middle east oil you want. You can keep their oil flowing without our help.

You can change feet now.

In fact, the intelligence which was used as a basis to convince the American public that invasion was necessary was provided to us by the Brits.

You didn't need conivincing, just the right excuses to justify it.

I thought it came from the CIA, based on British and American intelligence, as well as UN weapons inspector reports in Iraq?

Apparently, the same held true for the UK. They are still there too.

Drunk,
Whether you like it or not, we invaded Iraq with a world wide coalition. We led the invasion, because we are the most powerful nation on earth. The invasion was justified and now we have to stabilize Iraq. When that happens, we will (for the most part) leave the country. We did not invade them to seize the oil, and we have not seized the oil. The cost of this war to the UK, is a drop in the ocean compared to US costs...

And, in fact, the Iraqi government is making TONS of money on their oil as we speak and yet we're (The U.S.) is still footing the bills there...

So, not only have we not taken their oil, we have not asked that they re-pay us with their oil profits too!

The only reason we came was we were told there would be a piss up afterwards. Can't refuse a free piss up as we can never afford to pay for our own due to the high taxes.
