Hello,

Please give some info about this metal heads. Which head is good in what aria?
My main intrest is a head that fly the fastest and "on rails" (no pitch or roll tendencies in FFF) and can preform the nicest rools.
Allso I now have Avant programble head on my Freya shuld I stay with it?

Thanks,Eran.

Speaking from personal experience, you'll be very pleased with the SSZ-III head. It offers good stability in hover plus excellent tracking in the kind of aerobatics you desire. It rolls VERY well.

I'll Second the dash 3 head. I've been flying under that head on my X-Spec for the previous two seasons with great results.

I have not flown a SSZ-III head, but the FFZ-III is great in FFF but sucks in hovering, SSZ-R/F is a fantastic head in FFF & Hovering. - Just my experiance...

Thanks guys,

F3CWNB, can you specify the mechnical differences between the SSZ-3 and the SSZ-R/F?

Allso is the FFZ-3 is the same head like the SSZ-3 only plastic?

Eran.

Have a nice day :)

The SSZ-R/F head is basically a SSZ-III head that has been fitted with the SSR-VII Yoke & spindles - I think the blade grips are the same as the SSZ-III, but I am not sure. It may not sound like a big change over the SSZ-III, but it is like night & day compared to the FFZ-III in the hover, but as good as identical in FFF.

The SSZ-R/F can only be bought with the Freya R/F EC which is now discontinued However the head could be built up from parts - there have been threads here on RR where others (who are MUCH better Pilots than me) have noted their opinions on the SSZ-R/F.

Yes the FFZ-III is a plastic SSZ-III, and you will have no problems finding people here telling you how good the SSZ-III head is, but I have not flown the SSZ-III.

I am planning to reassemble my FFZ-III head, refit it to my X-spec & try it again, maybe I might like it 2nd time around but I am not holding my breath.

I would also like to try the SSR-VII head. I also like the X-spec head but not as much as the SSZ-R/F, I also have a SSZ-II head that I am yet to fly.

Hihi, my 2 cents and out of 5 stars, 5 being the best:

SSR-VI - The rotorhead is quite powerful in cyclic response and hence only requires small input to keep it in 1 spot during hovering. As for aerobatics, needless to say, one of the best ever. I have a Freya EX WC selling in RR classified (4.5 stars)

R/F aka Rudiger Feil - better than the FFZ-III/SSZ-III in hovering. Aerobatics is about the same. I have 1 set selling in RR classified (4 stars)

SSZ-II - best in hovering but lacks forward flight speed (3.5 stars)

FFZ-III/SSZ-III - opposite to what other experience, personally, hovering is the worst of the lot but ok for aerobatics. (3.5 stars)

1 point to note is that current F3C hovering is only K=1, unlike previous schedule whereby hovering K=2. So the aerobatics quality of the rotorhead is more important.

Also interestingly, I notice almost all Hirobo nods during slow hovering pirouette. I saw Hashimoto's Eagle 3 did that too. So having a rotorhead that is powerful in cyclic is an advantage.

Just my personal experience. I spend quite abit of money trying out all these.

SSZ-R/F uses SSZ-II blade grips, not SSZ-III since the SSR-VII head that it derives from uses SSZ-II blade grips. For this reason it's a little shorter than SSZ-III head.

blade grips are the same. Is the hub that make the rotor head longer or shorter. I have both in matel.

Fly the way i want => IRON NUT
