Got Jet Fuel? Turbine Helicopters > Changing blade root size

So silly me ordered a nice pair of 810mm Rotortechs with a 16mm root instead of a 14mm. Now obviously they don't fit in the blade grip.

Call me crazy but I thought I'd see what the general consensus is:

Any thoughts on sanding back the root of the blade slightly to allow for the smaller grip? Would end up taking 1mm off each size of the root. By the looks of it, there would still be some Gelcoat left there, but of course not much.

Thoughts/ideas/suggestions?

Don't really want to have to send the blades back as I'd be paying another two sets of shipping...

Two suggestions.

1) contact manufacturer and ask.

2) didn't indicate what kind of machine. Perhaps you might be able to purchase a new set of appropriate grips.

I would not recommend trying to mod the grips themselves.

Wouldn't dream of modding the blade grip itself (ie the aluminium part), was simply looking at sanding back the root of the blade.

The heli is a Zyclone Evo 2s. From what I understand there are no other grips available. And actually even if there were, it would probably turn out cheaper to pay the shipping twice and have these blades swapped :P

CHANGE the blades , even if you could sand them , I take it by hand , they would never track properly again , and will also cause vibrations , rather CHANGE them.

I have done this many times...

You can precisely chuck them up properly, and mill them
exactly, equidistant, top and bottom.
They will track as perfectly as before.

A machinist can quickly do this if you do not possess the
machine or the basic skill required.

Obviouly do not attempt this if the root is not solid filled.
