That's right, it's only a few weeks old and can have no more then 20 -25 charges on it and it stopped working, no out put at all from the banana jacks. I have had to use the car battery or a large Astron power supply for my ham radio to run the Super Brain 989. Has any one else had this happen to them with this unit? I called the company wich is local to me and they were super nice and turn around time is just fantastic. Off it will go on Monday. So has this happened to any one else? I wonder just how good these power supplys are. Maybe I should look through my AES catalog(ham radio) for another power supply.

Mine is almost 2 years old now.... Still going strong.

I'm glad to hear that. Mine is just a fluke then, I should get it fixed and try again.

Just a side note; There is a terrible elecrical burn smell coming from the fan area of the power supply. This AM my allergys have let up a bit after a night of heavy rain and now I smell it good. I think this thing has cooked!!!! Now I'm wondering if I should buy a real good power supply from a place like MFJ who are a major Ham Radio supplier. They have some goood power supplies reasonably priced and small and light.

Hey zac, if you are like me, it gets old lugging around an Astron 35M. I am going to put some sort of handle(s) to better carry it. BTW, I am a ham also, KD4KST, still a tech, but will upgrade sometime.

Hi roger De W2NIW. Nice to meet ya and a fellow flyer too. Take a look at the Alinco DM-330MVE. I thought I was going to buy that super station power supply but I'm going to get the Alinco instead. It's pretty nice check it out. I leave an old 35 amp Astron at the club house and I have an MFJ 35 amp job at home but you'r right, lugging around 40 lbs of transformer is NO FUN.. LOL Upgrade as soon as ya can, all the HF bands are lots of fun. I picked up the IC-7000 recently, the ultimate Transceiver. 73 / Catch ya on down the coax.
