Gohbee Aviation Stinger 30-90 > Stinger 90 in Scale Fuse - question about smoother flight

I stuffed mine in a TT Agusta... looks awesome with a custom paint job but not the best flying heli on the block. The Stinger flies "ok" pod and boom when I'm zooming around the sky, but even with flybar weights it's not a smooth flyer. I'm trying to decide what to do about it. The main mast is smaller than the Raptor or I'd swap out heads. Any other thoughts? I'm interested in hearing what you all have to say.

Hello; Heliproz?... I need to order more parts.

We need some info on your setup.

Head speed
Blades
Paddles
+/- pitch
cyclic pitch

If you have the plastic mixing lever arms the pushrod should be in the outermost hole.

You may just need to change from a 3D setup to a more scale setup, unless of course you plan to 3d Your scale ship (don't laugh, I've seen it done).

By the way we need pics of you killer paint job.

Head speed 1500. Blades Mavrik 680 white blades. Stock paddles with weights. Norm -4 +5 +9 for smooth collective. Links all the way out on mixing levers. Don't know about cyclic pitch.. never measured it and not sure how to. I think the setup is ok. I had Mike Rose (3rd Scale 07 nats) fly it last weekend.. he likes it but makes the same comments about it not being as smooth as the R90. Here's a pic and you can see more in my gallery.

Switch to leading edge pitch control. You will have to flip the main grips. The leavers that rotate on the flybar will also have to be reversed. You will have to switch sides on the link balls on these levers also. Set the phasing with the linkages from the swash to the washout almost in line with the main shaft. Stock Freya paddles with both weights in and flybar weights all the way out. You may have to bump your headspeed up alittle as this type setup didn't like very low headspeeds. Cyclic throws about 6 degrees.

Most of your setup looks good.
I would agree that 1500 may be a little low.
If you really want to run that low of a headspeed you will need to change the gearing.
At 1500 with the stock gears the engine is running really slow and well below the power band. This can cause difficulties tuning and weird vibrations.
With the stock setup it wants to run at least 1700.
Going to 720 blades will also give you smother control, more lift and better autos. Especially at the lower head speeds and geared for the lower headspeed. The 680's are great for 3D but a little quick for smooth flight.
On my Stinger 90 I started out with MAH 720's and did not like them because they were not quick enough for 3D. They made the heli fly like a trainer, Which I think is what you are really after.
Unfortunately I no longer have those blades.

Flyinfool: I'm disappointed with my blade selection, but that's what I get for trusting the people I bought them from (Billings, MT). I did pick up some weird vibs and bumped the head speed up a touch.. it's gone now.

Don Thomas; what's this you are talking about? I've never heard of this kind of solution before. I'm curious for sure. What more can you tell me about why I should flip the grips? Thanks.
