Fortunately it is not a part that would ground one's heli and they always seem to have the standard stock items for us.

Maybe they are trying to design some different paint schemes for it.

Personally, as that one has been around for about 8 years, I think it is a bit dated.

I really like the shape and paint scheme of their latest Swift 620SE:

http://www.heli-world.com/detail.aspx?ID=9236

I really would like to see that type of canopy shape and paint scheme for the Hawk and Raven.

As my eyesight is not as good as it was when I was 30, I would rather see in Yellow/blue/white or Yellow/green/white colors instead of red/black/white seen here.

I tried to see if it would fit on my Raven but it was a bit to tight if I tried to use the same rear post attachment points...maybe when I have more time I will see if I can modify it.

There will always be a few kits getting by QC.
Century may be a little slow but they come through.

mine was missing the grub screws that hold the pin in place for the tail gears, that was a close one glad I researched all the little things that could go wrong.

heres a link that may help lots of good info

Some of the issues seem to be long standing, coil touching the the motor mount is the one I've been dealing with now. The bagging system for the kit leaves a huge amount to be desired. As well as this model is supposed to fly, they might have spent a little on fit and packaging. The deluxe carbon fiber model I ordered, just had the "carbon fiber upgrade" instructions in it with the parts. For the price difference I would have expected a manual written for that model, not just here's an addemem figure it out. I can't even figure out if I'm missing parts yet..

Instructions have never been a strong point of Century helis!! It would seem they expect you to come here and find the answers to build the kit correctly. The old timers that have built century helis have all the knowledge needed to make it right. But for a newcomer its pure hell to build based on there instruction manual! If it weren't for the guys here on RR to help me I would have sold my first child into slavery to pay for instruction elsewhere!

If it doesn't fly sell it!

I've got 2 Centurys, a Pred Carbon SE Gasser, and a Predator 90, and I've previously owned a Hawk Pro. The Hawk flew well, but overall quality was lacking, I wouldn't recommend the Hawk to anyone. The Preds are an entirely different story. They just fly well, no maintenance, no fuss, they work day after day. I agree that the instructions couldn't suck anymore than they do, I built the Pred new from a kit, and I had the same trouble with the stupid instructions and the supplement to cover the carbon frames, but once it's together, it's a very solid heli.

I bought the Pred 90 because I had a ton of parts for the gasser, and wanted interchangeability, and I couldn't be happier with it. It flies awesome, autos great, and is very agile. My previous all around favorite 90 was the Freya, and I like the Pred much better. It combines the affordability, ease of maintenance and reliability of the Freya with the light weight and flight characteristics of the Fury (my cost no object 90 favorite). In fact, I just bought a Freestyle, I like the Predator so much.

Summer 2006 if I remember right. Bought it so I'd have a cheap heli to buddy box with. It flew very well, and I never had any problems with it, but it wasn't well made and was sloppy.

I never said it wouldn't fly for 40 gallons, I said it flew well but was sloppy and the quality wasn't good. If you have one and like it, great, I liked mine as well but I wouldn't buy another.

I come from a competitive FAI background (though I now more prefer the adrenaline rush of 3D) so I understand the value of precision (no play) systems.

But I do not expect my $210.00 entry level Hawk to be as precise and slop free as my Raven or Predators. Of course if I paid $279 or $299.00 like some others in its' class, then I would expect it to stay as slop free for as long as does my $299.00 Raven 50.

That being said, I think it is worth recommending the Hawk Pro to newbies, because I find most of them should be spending as much of their usually limited budgets on better radio gear (servos and gyros especially) and, relative to any other entry level helis, I find the Pro actually stays tighter then many others that cost substantially more, over a longer period of time.

P.S. Glad to hear you like your Preddy.

To jump in and cling on your point OLDFART, but that's exactly the point I was trying to state with buying the Predator Carbon, expensive heli, you should expect things to be made correctly with good instructions. I just think that we should be expecting more and getting more out of a company when you spend more, and Century is gotten a little used to it. I emailed them about my problems, and PM'd them here and still haven't gotten a response.
Sorry to have jumped in.. Rant off.

I 100% agree with you here. Instructions suck and NO packing list so you can't tell if you are missing pieces.

I bought my Pred. last fall and have about a gallon through it now. I'll be tearing it apart to put the one-way bearing fix from Bill Meador in and glue fix the inner sleeve to fit the main shaft. So far I do like the way it flies but one gallon with an engine that is not broken in yet. I hope to have a lot more experience over the summer.

Once you have it built I think you'll find you like the Predator a lot more, I know I did.

...yep...

Oldfart - No I haven't tried calling yet. I work 11 hours, then go to school at night. Time is very precious at the moment, so I am an internet type person. I've can jump on at 4:30 in the morning and type an email before work, then 10 pm at night. I haven't checked, but I'm assuming they aren't in at those hours.
