How bout calling the new Hirobo90 class heli...... Hirobo Loki 3D Evolution 90

I'd like to stick to the Norse Mythology theme since the other SST Eagle 90 was named after it which is the Freya (Freja) in real Norse name. Loki in Norse Mythology is the clever, trickster God that plays tricks on the other Gods. Since 3D is concerned ths name relates to aerobatic tricks and manuevers so I think Loki is an appropriate name for the new Hirobo 3D heli.

The Evolution 90 would be a good thing to add too since this new heli is based from the Freya Evo 90 frame that Dominik Haegle was prototyping and used it during the 2007 3D masters and which he also won that event.

Hi, All,

It already has a name, none of the names you've listed (Sorry!). I'm not authorized to write it. But the new bird will be (probably) officially presented next Shizuoka Hobby Show, around mid this month.

Just a little bit more....

$2600 dollars for the kit! Expensive. I guess I will just take the new rotor head.

it's got a newly designed clutch from the looks of it, that might be a moulded main gear there.

There is a hell of a lot of machined parts (including the all metal head, and that should be expensive alone), I don't know if G10 is easier to machine than carbon but I would assume that it is.

Also there appears to be a 135 CCPM option. And that swash plate appears to be the 135 version there.

Personally I rather buy an Eagle 3 SWM than this machine, but that's just me.....

I went to the hirobo japan webpage and they also show a new freya evo op 2 that comes with the new head! $1700 dollars! The head will probably be around $550-600. Just like the ssz III. By the way G10 fiberglass is way cheaper and not as stiff as carbon fiber. It will probably be another expensive option for the carbon frames. The black main gear is the new 91t black delrin one.

come to think of it, because they have priced this machine that way I would ASSUME that they platic Freya line would still be in production for those that want it.

This makes sense:

1) it's a low cost plastic fantastic
2) crashing carbon frames is very painful. Don't ask how I know
3) and people would probably still want plastic frame machines on price and ease of maintenance alone

so I seriously doubt that this machine would see the demise of the plastic Freyas. But only MRC can confirm that.

MRC is usually good about keeping stuff. Look at the EVO 50.. They have the EX also. I'm a little concerned seeing this thing priced already, I didnt' think it was going to be available to the end of the year.

Self appointed Crash King!

I am glad to hear that they might not discontinue the freya line. I also notice that the new heli weighs more than the freya op by 100g! I would assume they would make it lighter for 3d flight, what happened there? I see I can probably fit the new tail rotor grips and header tank to my freya ex2 at least. Hopefully the new head will be available soon!

Helidoc $1700 for the freya evo op 2 and $2700 for the new Turbulence d3! Mind you these are retail prices from from hirobo. Street prices are still to be seen. I hate to see what the crash cost will be for one of these puppies.

I would just like to clarify that we/MRC have not received pricing information from Hirobo. So, any pricing anyone hears about for the USA, unless it's from MRC is pure speculation.

Can MRC confirm or deny that the Freya plastic line of helis will STILL be in production and not get phased out due to the introduction of this new heli?

I find it strange now since helis have, how shall I say, moved to better and better value for money. A few years ago it would have been unimaginable to get a carbon heli at the price that a TRex 50 was selling at, and that's what's happening here. We are starting to get more carbon at a lower starting price.

Guys,

The pricing shown on that website is Suggested List price. Things NEVER hit the streets at anything near those prices. Check Hirobos website sometime on the current models for sale and do the math.
