It finally happened! A little bit of attitude between the helis and the planes. Its not alot and no words were exchanged but it could have been ugly. One hot shot doing real low passes (like 8 to 10 feet) with a fast spitfire almost took out a 600N down at the end of the feild were we fly the helis. Some of the other plane pilots were not real happy with the guy either. I guess the more people at the feild we get the more chances of something happening!

I'm sure the guy who flew the plank would describe that you almost took out his plank at the end of the field.

Other viewers would simply describe a heli and a plank were almost collided into each other.

Different sentences give different perspective

our feild is very good abotu this, we have a hover mat, which is behind a fence(the plane would crash into the fence before getting near the heli or its pilot), and we have the main feild, usually we dont like helis and planes he in the air at the same time...

back last year i was flying my 50 nitro at a field by my girlfriends house as a guest and a guy flying a foamie got mad because i went to the end of the runway and flew and everybody starting watching me instead of him so he started circling me while i was flying... once i landed he was laughing but all the other plankers told him that aint right so he finally stopped...

If it happened like that he would lose a little more than the foamie!

if there were to be a collision it wouldn't be either of the pilots fault but instead the spotter if there is one. its tough to see what's ahead of you...

when I found out that the heli guys dont like the airplane guys it just reminded me of my first marriage,

I dont want to divorce a club LOL

I would love to give you my opinion, I shall reserve that in respect to RR and the hobby though!

I will however tell you that I was at a field and something similar had occurred.(Planker flyby on Helo)- Luckily the R/C Heli Pilot didn't roll over and whine, he got in the "Dog Fight" and pursued the planker... He went chasing after the planker, flying forward, sideways and all axis around the planker till the pressure forced him to come in and land!

Now, I do not agree with this type of Non-AMA field flying but I would've shook his hand for not taking the fly-by from the planker! I was more impressed that he "returned the action" to the needless reckless flying by one dumb fixed wing pilot! I think the rule would be don't bring a planker to a Heli dogfight!

In closing, I DO NOT "approve" of this kind of flying, NOR would I recommend it, I am only saying careful who you play with!

As always, as I said above, It my opinion only and I wouldn't recommend it to any pilot nor suggest someone else do it! I also have NO beef with fixed wing flyers, I have met some exceptional pilots, too bad these events have to occur!

You have jerks that fly just helis and jerks that fly just planes and you got jerks that fly both. People are just self centered egotistical idiots that feel thier section of the hobby is better then the other when in reality its all the same they are both flying and both good. More people need to drop the attitudes and just get along but they cant for some reason and yes this applys to both helis and plane guys.

Well, I wasn't to worried about my helicopter, it was more for my health. Lets put it this way, at no time during the flight did the airplane pilot feel the affects of my rotor wash. I can't say the same thing. That plane passed by me no more than 10 feet away doing around 110 mph. Our field is on the small side, but I try to stay tucked away in the corner. I was flying first, and let him have the rest of our airfield. It is really just one guy, and I am sure that some one will get it straightened out. I would of landed or at least moved back if he would have sent someone down to our end of the runway to give me a heads up, but when you are concentrating on flying it is a bit hard to tell what is going on around you, then out of nowhere a plane screams right by you in a blur. I guess my point is that it could have been handled differently.

From my experience, it's the old people that have a problem with the heli's. Most of the younger plane guys are great.

I wish I had the money to be that bold with my heli! The old guys where I fly would have crashed right into you and not though twice about it. I guess when you have crappy planes and have all week to sit home and fix them because you're retired it just makes you loose respect for others property.

That scenario sounds familiar. If you don't mind the question what field was this at?
